The complete mitochondrial genome of Pycanum ochraceum Distant 1893 (Hemiptera: Tessaratomidae)

ABSTRACT: Abstract In the present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Pycanum ochraceum was identified for the first time. The entire genome is 17,198 bp in length with 73.6% A + T content. It contains 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs) and 1 noncoding control region (D-loop). Phylogenetic analysis showed that Tessaratomidae bugs are monophyletic. This study can provide essential DNA molecular data for further phylogenetic and evolutionary analysis for Heteroptera.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Mukaria splendida Distant (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae: Mukariini) and phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Mukaria splendida Distant, 1908 (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae) was first reported in Mukariini. The length of this mitogenome is 16,711 bp, which has an A + T content of 79% (A = 44.5%, T = 34.5%, G = 8.8%, C = 12.2%). A total of 37 genes were annotated [13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNA), and 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA)]. Among the 37 genes, 4 protein coding genes (ND1, ND4, ND4L, ND5), 8 tRNA genes (trnQ, trnC, trnY, trnF, trnH, trnP, trnL2, trnV), and 2 rRNA (12S rRNA, 16S rRNA) were encoded by N chain, and the remaining genes were encoded by J chain. Overall, there were 14 gene overlaps and 9 gene gaps in the mitochondrial genome of this species. All PCGs were started with ATD (ATA/ATT/ATG), and stopped with TAR, except ATP6, which ends with single T. The phylogenetic analysis confirms that M. splendida clustered with other Deltocephalinae species.

Project description:Ischnochiton hakodaensis is one of Polyplacophora species, which plays an important role in the intertidal and subtidal ecosystems. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of I. hakodaensis was obtained with 15,139?bp in length, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes. The overall base composition of the genome is 35.93% A, 13.51% G, 37.19% T, 13.38% C. The phylogenetic tree show that I. hakodaensis, Acanthopleura brevispinosa, Acanthopleura granulate, and Liolophura japonica constituted a sister clade along with Tonicia forbesii and Tonicia lamellose.

The Complete Mitochondrial Genome of Ugyops sp. (Hemiptera: Delphacidae).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Ugyops sp. (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) was sequenced, making it the first determined mitogenome from the subfamily Asiracinae, the basal clade of the family Delphacidae. The mitogenome was 15,259 bp in length with A + T content of 77.65% and contained 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), and a control region. The gene order was identical with that of the ancestral insect. The nucleotide composition analysis indicated that the whole mitogenome was strongly A-skewed (0.288) and highly C-skewed (-0.270). For PCGs on the J-strand, the AT skew was positive, and the GC skew was negative. All PCGs started with canonical ATN codons, except for cox1 and nad5, which used CTG and GTG as start codon, respectively. All tRNAs could fold into typical cloverleaf secondary structures, with the exception of trnS1 (AGN), in which the dihydrouridine arm was reduced to a simple loop. The control region included a poly-T stretch downstream of the small rRNA gene (rrnS), a subregion of higher A + T content and tandemly repeated sequence near trnI. The mitogenome of Ugyops sp. could be very helpful in exploring the diversity and evolution of mitogenomes in Delphacidae.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Purple Spot Mantis Shrimp Gonodactylus smithii (Pocock, 1893).

Project description:In this study, the whole mitochondrial genome of the Purple Spot Mantis Shrimp Gonodactylus smithii from the South China Sea was determined using next-generation sequencing. The circular mitogenome of G. smithii is 16,260 bp long and consists of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, and two rRNA genes. The base composition is AT-rich and has an overall AT content of 67.76% (composition of A, G, T, and C was 35.30%, 12.41%, 32.46%, and 19.83%, respectively). Among 13 PCGs, 12 PCGs shared a common ATN as the start codon except COX1 gene using an abnormal putative first codon GCG. 11 PCGs ended with TAA or TAG, while ND6, COX2 gene terminated with a single T and ND3 gene used a special "GAT" as the stop codon. The phylogenetic tree showed that G. smithii was clustered with Gonodactylus chiragra, then together with Gonodactylaceus randalli.

Complete genome sequence of Haliangium ochraceum type strain (SMP-2).

Project description:Haliangium ochraceum Fudou et al. 2002 is the type species of the genus Haliangium in the myxococcal family 'Haliangiaceae'. Members of the genus Haliangium are the first halophilic myxobacterial taxa described. The cells of the species follow a multicellular lifestyle in highly organized biofilms, called swarms, they decompose bacterial and yeast cells as most myxobacteria do. The fruiting bodies contain particularly small coccoid myxospores. H. ochraceum encodes the first actin homologue identified in a bacterial genome. Here we describe the features of this organism, together with the complete genome sequence, and annotation. This is the first complete genome sequence of a member of the myxococcal suborder Nannocystineae, and the 9,446,314 bp long single replicon genome with its 6,898 protein-coding and 53 RNA genes is part of the Genomic Encyclopedia of Bacteria and Archaea project.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Liorhyssus hyalinus (Hemiptera: Rhopalidae).

Project description:The mitogenome of Liorhyssus hyalinus (Fabricius, 1794), decoded using next-generation sequencing, is the first report of Liorhyssus. The mitogenomic size was 16,355 bp with 41.99% A, 33.44% T, 14.53% C, and 10.05% G (OM328158). The phylogenetic tree, constructed with the amino acid sequences of 13 protein-coding genes, showed that L. hyalinus clustered together with other species in Rhopalidae, which supported the monophyly of each family in Pentatomomorpha.

Phylogenetic analysis shows that the C. nicotianae mtDNA is closely related to Pseudocercospora fijiensis.
