Diaryliodonium salts have been extensively applied in organic synthesis as aryl cation equivalents. However, in the electrophilic reactions with alkenes or alkynes, only the electrophilic carbon of the diaryliodonium salts was involved while the other part of the aryl ring was not utilized.
