Catena-Poly[cadmium(II)-?-benzene-1,2-diamine-?N:N'-di-?-chlorido].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [CdCl(2)(C(6)H(8)N(2))](n), is a coordination polymer prepared by the hydro-thermal reaction of cadmium chloride and o-diamino-benzene. The cadmium cation, located on an inversion center, is octa-hedrally coordinated by four Cl atoms at equatorial sites and two N atoms from two ligands at the axial sites. Cd atoms are bridged by Cl atoms, forming extended chains parallel to [010]. Neighboring chains are connected by N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [CdCl(2)(C(8)H(6)N(2)O)(2)](n), consists of one mol-ecule of the 3H-quinazolin-4-one ligand, one Cd(2+) cation, which is located on a twofold axis, and one chlorido ligand in a general position. The latter bridges metal cations, forming a one-dimensional polymer along the b axis. The Cd?Cd distance along the chain is 3.7309?(7)?Å. The octa-hedral coordination around the metal is completed by two ligands in a trans axial geometry which coordinate through the N atom in 1 position. Moderately strong classical N-H?O hydrogen bonds around crystallographic inversion centers cross-link adjacent polymeric chains.

The Cd(II) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral configuration by two N atoms from 2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dimethyl and four bridging Cl atoms. Project description:The title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), is a new coordination polymer of benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate with cadmium(II) and 1,10-phenanthroline. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecule, three O atoms from two crystallographically independent benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and the O atom of a coordinated water mol-ecule, forming a heavily distorted octa-hedron. The 1,10-phenanthroline ligand is approximately planar within 0.073 (4) Å. The two different benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands each coordinate to two Cd(II) ions in bidentate and monodentate modes, forming an infinite zigzag chain. Adjacent chains are packed tightly by strong π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.851 (2) and 3.859 (2) Å] between the aromatic rings of the benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligand and the 1,10-phenanthroline of a neighboring chain, forming a sheet parallel to (011). Different sheets are linked together via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecules and the O atoms of the carboxyl-ate groups, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the polymeric title compound, {(C21H19N2)[HgCl3]} n , comprises one-half of the cationic mol-ecule, the other half being generated by application of twofold rotation symmetry, one Hg and two Cl atoms. The Hg(II) atom, lying on a twofold rotation axis, exhibits a distorted triangular coordination environment and is surrounded by three Cl atoms with Hg-Cl distances in the range 2.359?(2)-2.4754?(13)?Å. Two additional longer distances [Hg?Cl = 3.104?(14)?Å] lead to the formation of polymeric [HgCl1/1Cl4/2](-) chains extending along [001]. The crystal packing can be described by cationic layers alternating parallel to (-110) with the anionic chains located between the layers. The packing is consolidated by ?-? stacking inter-actions between the benzene rings of the central benzimidazole entities, with centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.643?(3)?Å.

The coordinated water mol-ecules are linked to the uncoordinated ethanol mol-ecules and chloride anions by O-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, although the assignment of some of these is tentative. A weak inter-molecular O-H?N inter-action within the ligand is also observed.
