ABSTRACT: In the title mononuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu(C(10)H(12)BrN(2)O)(NCS)], the Cu(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms and one O atom from a Schiff base ligand, and by one N atom from a thio-cyanate anion, giving a square-planar geometry. In the crystal structure, symmetry-related mol-ecules are linked by an N-H?S hydrogen bond.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(NCS)(2)(C(13)H(17)Cl(2)N(2)O)(2)], was obtained by the reaction of 3,5-dichloro-salicylaldehyde, N,N-diethyl-ethane-1,2-diamine, sodium thio-cyanate, and copper(II) acetate in an ethanol solution. It crystallizes as a centrosymmetric dimer with a very long Cu⋯S axial bond [2.972 (3) Å]. The Cu atom is five-coordinated by the three donor atoms of the Schiff base ligand, 2,4-dichloro-6-[(2-diethyl-amino-ethyl-imino)meth-yl]phenol, one N atom of a thio-cyanate group, and one S atom of a symmetry-related thio-cyanate group, forming a slightly distorted square-pyramidal geometry.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu2(C19H31N4O)(OH)(NCS)2], the mol-ecular structure of the dinuclear complex reveals two penta-coordinated Cu(II) ions, which are bridged by the phenolate O atom of the ligand and by an exogenous hydroxide ion. The bridging atoms occupy equatorial positions in the coordination sphere of the metal atoms and complete the equatorial coordination planes with two ligand N atoms, the apical positions being occupied by thio-cyanate N atoms. The crystal structure also features ?-? stacking inter-actions involving the benzene rings with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.764?(4)Å. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin, with a refined BASF value of 0.203?(2).

Beside the two thio-cyanate bridges, there are two intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds, which further link the two Cu(C(12)H(17)N(2)O(2))(NCS) units. The Cu?Cu separation is 3.261?(2)?Å. Parts of the methylaminopropylimino segment are disordered over two sites with occupancies of 0.669(9) and 0.331(9).

Project description:The title complex, [Zn(NCS)(C(13)H(20)N(2)O(2))(2)]NO(3), consists of a complex mononuclear Zn(II) cation and a nitrate counter-anion. The Zn(II) ion is five-coordinate in a trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The thio-cyanate N atom and two O atoms from two Schiff bases define the equatorial plane, and the two imine N atoms from the same two Schiff bases occupy the axial positions, with an N-Zn-N angle of 175.98?(7)°. The amine N atoms of the Schiff base ligands are protonated and are not involved in the coordination to the metal. The dihedral angle between the two substituted benzene rings is 87.7?(2)°. The nitrate counter-ions are linked to the cations through N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Both Ni atoms in each molecule have a square-pyramidal coordination geometry, and each center is bound by one O and two N atoms of one Schiff base ligand and by one N atom of a bridging thio-cyanate ligand, which define the basal planes. N atoms from the bridging thio-cyanate ligands occupy the apical positions.
