ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [PtCl(2)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(2)]·CH(3)CN, contains a neutral Pt(IV) complex and an acetonitrile solvent mol-ecule. In the complex, the Pt(4+) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by two N atoms and two O atoms from two pyridine-carboxyl-ate (pic) ligands and two Cl atoms. The Cl atoms are cis with respect to each other. The compound displays inter- and intra-molecular C-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title compound, [SnCl?(C?H?NS)?], is the product of reaction of 2,2'-dipyridyl disulfide with tin tetra-chloride. The Sn(IV) atom adopts a distorted octa-hedral geometry, with the two bidentate pyridine-2-thiol-ate ligands forming two planar four-membered chelate rings. The two Sn-Cl, two Sn-N and two Sn-S bonds are in cis, cis and trans configurations, respectively. The crystal grown from acetonitrile represents a new monoclinic polymorph in space group C2/c with the mol-ecule having twofold rotational symmetry, the Sn(IV) atom lying on the twofold axis. The mol-ecular structure of the monoclinic polymorph is very close to that of the triclinic polymorph studied previously in space group P-1, the mol-ecule occupying a general position [Masaki & Matsunami (1976 ?). Apparently, the formation of the two polymorphs is determined by the different systems of inter-molecular inter-actions. In the crystal of the monoclinic polymorph, mol-ecules are bound into ribbons along the c axis by C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, whereas in the crystal of the triclinic polymorph, mol-ecules form chains along the a axis by attractive S?S inter-actions. The crystal studied was a pseudo-merohedral twin; the refined BASF value is 0.221?(1).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Pd(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(4)]·2H(2)O, consists of a quarter of a neutral Pd(IV) complex and half of a solvent water mol-ecule. In the complex, the Pd(IV) ion is located on a fourfold inversion axis and eight-coordinated in a distorted dodeca-hedral environment by four N and four O atoms from four symmetry-related pyridine-2-carboxyl-ate (pic) anionic ligands. In the crystal, the water mol-ecule is involved in O-H?O hydrogen bonding, and weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds occur. There are also inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.715?(3)?Å.

Project description:The cation and the anion in the title salt, (C(6)H(16)N)[SnCl(4)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))], are linked by an N-H?O hydrogen bond. The Sn(IV) atom in the stannate anion is chelated by the pyridine-2-carboxyl-ate group and exists in a cis-SnCl(4)NO octa-hedral geometry. Project description:In the title complex, [Pt(C(6)H(4)NO(2))Cl(C(2)H(6)OS)], the Pt(II) ion is in a distorted square-planar environment defined by the N and O atoms from the chelating pyridine-2-carboxyl-ate (pic) anionic ligand, one S atom of the dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecule and one Cl ion. The complex is disposed about a crystallographic mirror plane parallel to the ac plane passing through all the atoms of the complex except the methyl atoms of the dimethyl sulfoxide. The mol-ecules are stacked in columns along the b axis with a Pt?Pt distance of 4.9508?(5)?Å. Within the column, inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak ?-? inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings are present, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 5.153?(4)?Å.

Project description:The three-dimensional title coordination polymer, {[Tb(2)(C(8)H(2)NO(6))(2)(H(2)O)(5)]·H(2)O}(n), was hydro-thermally synthesized by reacting the corresponding rare-earth salt with pyridine-2,4,6-tricarb-oxy-lic acid (H(3)ptc). There are two independent Tb(III) atoms in the structure, one of which is nine-coordinated, forming a monocapped NO(8) square-anti-prism and the other is eight-coordinated exhibiting a 4,4-bicapped NO(7) trigonal-prismatic environment. The complex units are inter-connected through the ptc(3-) anions acting in different coordination modes, resulting in a three-dimensional coordin-ation polymer. The crystal structure features extensive O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The ptc ligands brigde the Sm(III) ions into a three-dimensional polymeric framework. Extensive O-H?O hydrogen bonding is observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:The reaction of Zn(NO(3))(2) with pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (pydcH(2)) and acridine (acr) in aqueous solution leads to the formation of the title compound, (C(13)H(10)N)[Zn(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(C(7)H(4)NO(4))]·5H(2)O or (acrH)[Zn(pydcH)(pydc)]·5H(2)O. In the title compound, the Zn(II) atom is coordinated by four O atoms and two N atoms from the tridentate chelating rings of (pydc)(2-) and (pydcH)(-) anions. The geometry of the resulting ZnN(2)O(4) coordination can be described as distorted octa-hedral. To balance the charges, one protonated acridine (acrH)(+) cation is present. In the crystal structure, extensive O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds involving acrH(+), the complex anion and uncoordinated water mol-ecules form a three-dimensional network.
