ABSTRACT: The Cd atom in the title compound, [Cd(C(12)H(10)N(2)O)(3)](NO(3))(2), adopts a distorted octa-hedral geometry, being ligated by six N atoms from three different phenyl-2-pyridyl ketone oxime ligands. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a chain structure propagating along [100]. The chains are further linked into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure via van der Waals forces.

Project description:In the title polymeric coordination complex, {[Cd(C(22)H(20)N(2)O(6))(H(2)O)(4)](NO(3))(2)·0.5H(2)O}(n), obtained from the self-assembly of the flexible double betaine 3,3'-[p-phenyl-enebis(oxymethyl-ene)]bis-(1-pyridinioacetate) with cadmium nitrate, both the octa-hedrally coordinated Cd(II) cation and the substituted betaine ligand lie on inversion centres. The chains constructed through the trans-related acetate groups of the ligand are inter-connected via O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving coordinated aqua ligands, the nitrate anions and the partial-occupancy (0.25) water mol-ecule of solvation, forming a three-dimensional structure.

Tris(1,10-phenanthroline-?N,N')nickel(II) dinitrate tetra-hydrate.

Project description:In the title complex, [Ni(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)](NO(3))(2)·4H(2)O, the Ni(II) ion is octa-hedrally coordinated by three bidentate 1,10-phenanthroline ligands, each forming a five-membered chelate ring. In the crystal, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds are present between the complex cations, nitrate anions and water mol-ecules. O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the uncoord-inated water mol-ecules lead to the formation of a four-membered ring water cluster, with a planar configuration. There were an additional five grossly disordered water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, which were removed by the subroutine SQUEEZE; these were were excluded in the calculation of the molecular weight, etc. ?-? stacking inter-actions between the aromatic rings are also observed [centroid-centroid distances = 3.697?(2), 3.728?(2) and 3.761?(2)?Å].

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(CH(4)N(2)S)(2)(H(2)O)(4)][Cd(CH(4)N(2)S)(3)(H(2)O)(3)](SO(4))(2), contains two mol-ecules of each of the Cd complexes and four sulfate ions in the asymmetric unit: all the Cd atoms exhibit distorted octa-hedral geometries. The Cd-S and Cd-O bond lengths around the Cd atoms in the bis-(thio-urea) cations are in the ranges 2.580?(4)-2.599?(4) and 2.323?(8)-2.421?(9)?Å, respectively, and the S atoms are in a cis orientation. In the tris-(thio-urea) cations, the corresponding bond lengths around the Cd atoms are slightly longer and are in the ranges 2.559?(4)-2.706?(3) and 2.303?(7)-2.480?(10)?Å, respectively, and the S atoms are in a fac disposition. The crystal structure features numerous N-H?O, N-H?N, O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds. Two O atoms of a sulfate anion were found to be disordered over two orientations in a 0.620?(9):0.380?(9) ratio. The crystal studied was a racemic twin with BASF = 0.17?(5).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Zn(C(12)H(10)N(6))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(2), contains one-half of the complex molecule and one NO(3) (-) anion. The Zn(II) ion displays a distorted tetra-gonal-pyramidal geometry with four N atoms from two chelating 4-amino-3,5-di-2-pyridyl-1,2,4-triazole (2-bpt) lig-ands in the basal plane and one water mol-ecule occupying the apical site. Another water mol-ecule at the opposite of the apical site has a weak inter-action with the Zn(II) ion [Zn-O = 2.852 (5) Å]. The Zn(II) ion and the two water mol-ecules lie on a twofold rotation axis. An extensive system of hydrogen bonds involving the NH(2) groups of the 2-bpt ligands, water mol-ecules and nitrate anions links all residues into a three-dimensional network.

The Cd atom has a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal environment, defined by five O atoms from three different 1,3-phenylendiacetate (1,3-pda) ligands and two N atoms from two 1,3-di-4-pyridyl-propane (bpp) ligands. Each Cd(2) subunit is linked to four different Cd(2) subunits by four 1,3-pda ligands and four bpp ligands, forming a two-dimensional network with rhombic grids (12.50 × 12.50 Å(2)) extending along the ab plane.

Project description:The reaction of nickel salts and 4,4'-bipyridine with 2,2'-bi-imidazole (H(2)biim) yielded the title complex, [Ni(C(6)H(6)N(4))(3)](NO(3))(2)·C(3)H(7)NO. The Ni(II) atom is chelated by three H(2)biim ligands in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The two nitrate anions and one dimethyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecule are not coordinated. The compound has a three-dimensional structure, formed by extensive hydrogen bonding between [Ni(H(2)biim)(3)](2+) cations and nitrate anions, each nitrate anion forming hydrogen bonds with an R(1) (2)(4) motif. The DMF molecule is disordered over three sets of sites, with occupancy ratios of 0.341?(16):0.350?(17):0.309?(19).

Supramolecular Pt(II) and Ru(II) Trigonal Prismatic Cages Constructed with a Tris(pyridyl)borane Donor.

Project description:We report a novel example of supramolecular cages containing a Lewis acidic trigonal boron center. Self-assembly of the tris(pyridyl)borane donor 1 with diruthenium (2) or platinum (3), as an electron acceptor, furnished boron-containing trigonal prismatic supramolecular cages 5 and 6, which were characterized by 1H NMR and electrospray ionization time-of-flight mass spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The molecular structure of cage 5 was confirmed as a trigonal prismatic cage with an inner dimension of about 400 Å3. The fluoride binding properties of borane ligand 1 and Pt cage 6 were studied. UV/vis absorption titration studies demonstrated that the boron center of cage 6 undergoes strong binding interaction with the fluoride ion, with an estimated binding constant of 1.3 × 1010 M-2 in acetone based on the 1:2 binding isotherm. The binding was also confirmed by 1H NMR titration. Photoluminescence titration studies showed that cage 6 emitted borane-centered fluorescence (τ = 2.21 ns), which was gradually quenched upon addition of fluoride. When excess fluoride was added to a solution of 6, however, dissociation of the pyridyl ligand from the Pt(II) center was observed.
