Catena-Poly[[bis-(3-carb-oxy-5-nitro-benzoato-?O)copper(II)]-?-1,3-di-4-pyridylpropane-?N:N'].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cu(C(8)H(4)NO(6))(2)(C(13)H(14)N(2))](n), the square-planar coordinated Cu(II) ion lies on an inversion centre and is coordinated by two protonated 5-nitro-isophthalate ligands. The Cu(II) ions are linked into a one-dimensional coordination polymer by tethering 1,3-di-4-pyridylpropane ligands, whose central methyl-ene C atoms are situated on twofold rotation axes. The chains are oriented parallel to the c axis, and stack into a supra-molecular three-dimensional structure through O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title complex, [Gd(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(C(8)H(4)NO(6))(C(12)H(8)N(2))](n), contains polymeric chains made up of Gd(III) atoms, 1,10-phenanthroline and fully or half-deproton-ated 5-nitro-benzene-1,3-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (H(2)L) ligands. The Gd(III) atom is coordinated in a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic fashion by six O atoms from two HL(-) and three L(2-) ligands, and by two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand. The L(2-) ligands bridge the Gd-phenanthroline units, forming chains running parallel to [100]. O-H?O hydrogen bonding as well as ?-? stacking inter-actions with an inter-planar distance of 3.599?(2)?Å assemble neighboring polymeric chains.

Project description:In the title compound, [CoCl(2)(C(13)H(14)N(2))](n), 1,3-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)propane (bpp) ligands bridge four-coordinate Co atoms, generating an extended one-dimensional zigzag chain. Both the Co and two Cl atoms in the tetrahedral coordination polyhedron lie on a mirror plane, while the bbp ligand is bis-ected through the central C atom in the chain by a second mirror plane. Project description:The hydro-thermal reaction of Cd(NO(3))(2)·4H(2)O, 1,3-di-4-pyridylpropane (BPP) and 4,4'-oxydibenzoic acid (OBA) led to the formation of the title compound, C(13)H(14)N(2)·C(14)H(10)O(5). The asymmetric unit consists of one mol-ecule of OBA and one of BPP. In the OBA mol-ecule, one COOH group is nearly planar with its attached benzene ring [dihedral angle = 0.9?(1)°], while the other COOH group is slightly twisted with a dihedral angle of 10.8?(3)°. The carboxyl groups form strong inter-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds with N atoms of the pyridine rings in BPP, linking the mol-ecules into zigzag chains.
