ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(13)H(21)N(3)O(6), the six-membered ring adopts a twist-boat conformation with the azide group in the bowsprit position. The azide group is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.642?(10):0.358?(10) ratio. The crystal structure consists of O-H?O hydrogen-bonded trimer units. The absolute configuration was determined from the use of d-mannose as the starting material.

Project description:The title compound, C(19)H(30)O(9), was prepared by substitution at the C6 position in 1,2;3,4-di-O-isopropyl-idene-6-O-trifluoro-methane-sulfonyl-d-galactose using sodium eth-oxy-malonate in dimethyl-formamide. The conformation is skew-boat (0)S(2), slightly distorted towards boat B(2,5). The inflexible pyran-ose structure makes the title compound a suitable inter-mediate for further synthetic work by keeping stereogenic carbon atoms safe from inversion. Several short intra-molecular C-H? O contacts may stabilize the conformation of the mol-ecule. Inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions also occur.

Project description:Reaction of 3-O-benzyl-1,2-O-isopropyl-idene-?-xylo-pentodialdo-1,4-furan-ose with N,N-diethyl-2-(dimethyl-sulfuranil-idene)acetamide gave stereoselectively an ep-oxy-amide, which was regioselectively opened by NaN(3) in dimethyl formamide to give the title compound, C(21)H(30)N(4)O(6). X-ray crystallography confirmed the relative stereochemistry of the title compound and the absolute configuration was determined by the use of d-glucose as the starting material. There are two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit (Z' = 2). The crystal structure consists of two types of chains of O-H?O hydrogen-bonded mol-ecules running parallel to the b axis, with each mol-ecule acting as a donor and acceptor of one hydrogen bond.

Project description:The title compound, C(20)H(26)O(7), was prepared by esterification of 2,3;5,6-di-O-isopropyl-idene-?-d-mannofuran-ose with phenyl-acetic acid under standard DCC/DMAP (DCC = dicyclohexylcarbodiimide and DMAP = 4-dimethylaminopyridine) con-ditions. The solid-state structure confirms the retention of the ?-configuration at the anomeric C atom. The compound is characterized by a relatively rigid framework with only a few degrees of freedom. Comparison with other di-O-isopropyl-idenemannofuran-ose derivatives shows the main differences to be associated with the flexible dimethyl-dioxolane ring, and that there are only small differences for the 2,3-O-isopropyl-idene-?-d-manno-furan-ose backbone. The packing is marked by a large number of weak C-H?O inter-actions.
