ABSTRACT: The Mn(II) atom in the title complex, [Mn(NCS)(2)(C(14)H(13)NO(2))(2)], lies on a center of inversion in a MnO(4)N(2) octa-hedral geometry. The Schiff base is present in its zwitterionic form and is O,O'-chelated to the metal atom. The imino N atom is protonated and is involved in an intra-molecular hydrogen bond with the phenolate O atom.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Mn(C(14)H(13)NO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(3)](NO(3))(2), is comprised of two Schiff base 2-meth-oxy-6-(N-phenyl-carboximido-yl)phenol (HL) ligands and three coordinated water mol-ecules. The Mn(II) ion lies on a twofold axis that bis-ects one water O atom. The coordination sphere of the five-coordinate Mn atom is completed by the two monodentate HL ligands and three coordinated water mol-ecules binding through their O atoms, affording a distorted tetra-gonal-pyramidal geometry. In the phenolate ligands, the hy-droxy H atom transfers to the imine N atom. This H atom is also involved in an intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond that imposes a nearly planar conformation on each ligand, with dihedral angles of 2.78?(3) and 2.43?(5)° between the aromatic rings of each ligand. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title mononuclear zinc(II) complex, [Zn(C(11)H(16)N(2)O(2))(2)(NCS)]NCS·0.5H(2)O, consists of a complex cation, a thio-cyanate anion, and half of a water mol-ecule. The Zn(II) atom in the cation is five-coordinated by two imine N and two phenolate O atoms from two bidentate Schiff base ligands, and by one N atom of a thio-cyanate ligand, forming a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The ammonio H atoms are involved in hydrogen bonding with the ligand O atoms and the solvent water molecules (site occupation factor 0.5), which partially determines the conformation of the ligands.

Bridging thio-cyanate ligands inter-connect adjacent [Mn(NCS)(2)(C(10)H(16)N(3))] units, giving rise to helical chains extending along the b axis. The chains are further linked through N-H?S hydrogen bonds, leading to a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

The thio-cyanate N atom and two O atoms from two Schiff bases define the equatorial plane, and the two imine N atoms from the same two Schiff bases occupy the axial positions, with an N-Zn-N angle of 175.98?(7)°. The amine N atoms of the Schiff base ligands are protonated and are not involved in the coordination to the metal. The dihedral angle between the two substituted benzene rings is 87.7?(2)°. The nitrate counter-ions are linked to the cations through N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(NCS)(2)(C(6)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Cu(II) atom, lying on an inversion center, adopts a Jahn-Teller distorted octahedral CuN(6) coordination geometry. The two bidentate 2-amino-methyl-pyridine ligands are coordinated in a trans fashion, while the two thio-cyanate ligands are at the axial positions and coordinate to the Cu atom in a bent mode with a C-N-Cu angle of 127.49 (10)°. Inter-molecular N-H⋯N and N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds link the copper complex mol-ecules into an infinite two-dimensional network.
