ABSTRACT: In the title mononuclear complex, [Cd(C(14)H(10)NO(3))(2)(CH(3)OH)(4)], the Cd(2+) cation is situated on an inversion centre. It exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination, defined by two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two monodentate anions and by four O atoms from four methanol mol-ecules. The crystal structure comprises intra-molecular O-H?O and O-H?N, and inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The latter help to construct a layered structure extending parallel to (100).

Project description:In the title centrosymmetric binuclear Cd(II) compound, [Cd(2)(C(7)H(5)O(3))(4)(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)]·4H(2)O, the six-coordinated Cd(II) atom is chelated by the carboxyl-ate groups of the two 3-hy-droxy-benzoate (HB) anions; the two monomeric units are bridged through the two O atoms of the two carboxyl-ate groups. Project description:In the title compound, C17H18N4O5·0.47CH3OH, the virtually planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.128?Å) carbonohydrazide mol-ecule is located on a twofold axis and conformation of its C=N bonds is E. There are short intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds between the hy-droxy groups and hydrazide N atoms. In the crystal, bifurcated N-H?(O,O) hydrogen bonds assemble the carbonohydrazide mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. There are C 2 symmetric voids in this network, 47% of which are occupied by disordered methanol mol-ecules.

In complex A, [Cd(C7H5O3)2(C6H6NO)2(H2O)2], the Cd(II) cation is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by two salicylate anions, two nicotinamide (NA) ligands and two water mol-ecules in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. In complex B, [Cd(C7H5O3)2(C6H6NO)(H2O)2], the Cd(II) cation is coordinated by two salicylate anions, one nicotinamide (NA) ligand and two water mol-ecules in an irregular seven-coordinate geometry. There are extensive intra-molecular O-H?O and weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds as well as extensive inter-molecular O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonding in the crystal structure. ?-? stacking between the pyridine and benzene rings, between the benzene rings, between the benzene and pyridine rings and between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.5989?(10), 3.6005?(10), 3.5800?(9) and 3.5205?(10)?Å, respectively] further stabilize the crystal structure. A weak N-H?? inter-action also occurs. One of the lattice water mol-ecules is disordered over two positions with an occupancy ratio of 0.70:0.30.

In the benzohydrazide mol-ecule, there is an intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond and the NH group is hydrogen bonded to the methanol solvent mol-ecule. In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the methanol solvent mol-ecule link the benzohydrazide mol-ecules to form chains which propagate along the a axis.
