ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Sm(C(48)H(45)N(10)O(3))(H(2)O)]·CH(3)CN, the Sm(III) ion is coordinated by the hepta-dentate tris-(2-{5-[(4-methyl-pheny)diazen-yl]-2-oxidobenzyl-idene-amino}-eth-yl)amine trianionic ligand and a water mol-ecule. The resulting SmN(4)O(4) coordination polyhedron is a distorted square anti-prism. In the crystal, complex mol-ecules are linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C(21)H(24)N(4)S(3), is a tripodal Schiff base that was obtained from the reaction of tris-(2-amino-eth-yl)amine (tren) and thio-phene-3-carbaldehyde. The compound forms a cavity with approximate C3 symmetry. One of the thio-phene units is disordered in a 0.764 (2):0.236 (2) ratio. In the crystal, the three thio-phene ligands are involved in intra-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions and the mol-ecules are connected by C-H⋯N inter-actions, forming hydrogen-bonded chains.

Project description:The tripodal character of the title compound, C(33)H(30)N(10)S(3), arises from the three thio-ether arms surrounding a central amine N atom. The three arms have approximately the same conformation but distinct geometries in a trans-trans-cis conformation, resulting in a short pyridine-sulfanyl N⋯S distance of 4.320 (7) Å. The distances of the central N atom to the N atoms of three pyridine rings in the arms are 8.305 (7), 8.032 (7) and 5.076 (9)Å. In the crystal, mol-ecules are joined into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network via effective π-π stacking between adjacent heterocycles [centroid-centroid distances of 3.700 (3)-4.118 (4) Å between adjacent inter-layer pyrimidine rings and 3.676 (4) Å between the pyridine rings].

Project description:The title tertiary amine, C(27)H(27)N(7), a potential tripodal ligand for coordination chemistry, crystallizes with the central N atom located on a threefold axis of a trigonal cell. The gauche conformation of the N(amime)-CH(2)-CH(2)-N(indazole) chain [torsion angle = -64.2?(2)°] places the pendant 2H-indazole heterocycles surrounding the symmetry axis, affording a claw-like shaped mol-ecule. Two symmetry-related indazole planes in the mol-ecule make an acute angle of 60.39?(4)°. The lone pair of the tertiary N atom is located inside the cavity, and should thus be inactive (as a ligand). In the crystal, neither significant ?-? nor C-H?? inter-actions between molecules are found.

The benzene ring of the 2-eth-oxy-6-methyl-phenol substiuent is approximately perpendicular to the nearly planar benzimidazole ring system [maximum deviation = 0.016 (1) Å], making a dihedral angle of 84.27 (8)°. The benzene ring of the 2-eth-oxy-phenol substituent is inclined to the benzimidazole mean plane by 29.68 (8)°. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 80.36 (9)°. In the mol-ecule, there are strong O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected by bifurcated O-H⋯(O,O) hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [010].

In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen bonds occur and several intra- and inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions are present between adjacent benzene rings, with a shortest centroid-centroid distance of 3.507?(2)?Å.
