ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(11)H(17)NO(2)S, was obtained by the reaction of (R)-tert-butane-sulfinamide with 3-meth-oxy-phenyl bromide in toluene. In the crystal, mol-ecules inter-act head-to-tail through N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming one-dimensional chains parallel to the a axis.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C(24)H(32)O(10), one tert-butyl ester group is folded towards the central benzene ring while the other is directed away. The acetyl group is almost perpendicular to the benzene ring to which it is connected [C-C-O-C torsion angle = 90.4?(12)°]. The conformation about the ethene bond [1.313?(7)?Å] is E. The atoms of the benzene ring and its attached ester group and part of the hy-droxy tert-butyl ester side chain are disordered over two sets of sites in a 50:50 ratio. Linear supra-molecular chains along the a axis mediated by hy-droxy-carbonyl O-H?O hydrogen bonds feature in the crystal packing. The same H atom also partakes in an intra-molecular O-H?O inter-action.

Project description:In the title compound, C(11)H(17)NO(2)S, the mol-ecules inter-act head-to-tail through N-H?OS hydrogen bonds, giving discrete centrosymmetric cyclic dimers. The N-C(ar-yl) bond length [1.4225?(14)?Å] is inter-mediate between that in N-phenyl-tert-butane-sulfinamide [1.4083?(12)?Å] and the N-C(alk-yl) bond lengths in N-alkyl-alkanesulfinamides (1.470-1.530?Å), suggesting weaker delocalization of electrons over the N atom and the aromatic ring due to the presence of the 4-meth-oxy group.

Crystal structure of 1,4-bis-[5-(2-meth-oxy-phen-yl)-2H-tetra-zol-2-yl]butane.

Project description:The title compound, C20H22N8O2, was synthesized by the coupling reaction of a sodium tetra-zolate salt and di-bromo-butane in a molar ratio of 2:1. The reaction can produce several possible regioisomers and the title compound was separated as the major product. The X-ray crystallographic study confirmed that the title compound crystallizes in the monoclinic P21/c space group and possesses a bridging butyl-ene group that connects two identical phenyl tetra-zole moieties. The butyl-ene group is attached not to the first but the second nitro-gen atoms of both tetra-zole rings. The dihedral angles between the phenyl groups and the adjacent tetra-zolyl rings are 5.32?(6) and 15.37?(7)°. In the crystal, the mol-ecules form centrosymmetric dimers through C-H?O hydrogen bonds between a C-H group of the butyl-ene linker and the O atom of a meth-oxy group.

The atoms of the methanol group were refined as disordered over two sets of sites with fixed occupancies of 0.86 and 0.14. The H atoms of the hy-droxy group in the major component are disordered over a further two sets of sites with equal occupancies. This is a necessary arrangement to allow for hydrogen bonding without unrealistic H⋯H contacts. In the crystal, O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect mol-ecules into chains along [001].
