Tetra-kis(nitrato-?(2)O,O')[N,N'-1,4-phenyl-enebis(pyridine-4-carboxamide)-?N(1)](4-{[4-(pyridine-4-carboxamido-?N(1))phen-yl]carbamo-yl}pyridin-1-ium)neodymium(III).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Nd(NO(3))(4)(C(18)H(15)N(4)O(2))(C(18)H(14)N(4)O(2))], the Nd(III) centre is located on a twofold axis and exhibits a ten-coordinated distorted bicapped square-anti-prismatic geometry. The pyridinium NH H atom is disordered over the two ligands. Adjacent mononuclear clusters are linked through N-H?O and N-H?N hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, generating layers in the (102) plane.

The distorted octa-hedral Mn environment comprises two terminal Cl atoms and four monodentate N atoms from four organic ligands. All the carbamoyl N atoms are involved in inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions which link the mol-ecules into a chain along the a axis.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(16)H(13)N(2)O(+)·NCS(-)·C(16)H(12)N(2)O, contains two N-(pyridin-4-yl)naphthalene-2-carboxamide mol-ecules, both are partially protonated in the pyridine moiety, i.e. the H atom attached to the pyridine N atom is partially occupied with an occupancy factor of 0.61?(3) and 0.39?(3), respectively. In the crystal, protonated and neutral N-(pyridin-4-yl)naphthalene-2-carboxamide mol-ecules are linked by N-H?N hydrogen bonding; the thio-cyanate counter-ion links with both protonated and neutral N-(pyridin-4-yl)naphthalene-2-carboxamide mol-ecules via N-H?S and N-H?N hydrogen bonding. The dihedral angles between the pyridine ring and naphthalene ring systems are 11.33?(6) and 9.51?(6)°, respectively. ?-? stacking is observed in the crystal structure, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 3.5929?(8)?Å. The crystal structure was determined from a nonmerohedral twin {ratio of the twin components = 0.357?(1):0.643?(1) and twin law [-100 0-10 -101]}.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C16H22N2O2S, contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules (A and B). In mol-ecule A, the cyclo-hexane ring is disordered over two orientations [occupancy ratio 0.841?(10):0.159?(10)]. In each mol-ecule, the central carbonyl thio-urea unit is nearly planar (r.m.s. deviations for all non-H atoms of 0.034?Å in mol-ecule A and 0.094?Å in mol-ecule B). In both mol-ecules, the cyclo-hexane ring adopts a chair conformation. The mean plane of the cyclo-hexane ring makes dihedral angles of 35.8?(4) (mol-ecule A) and 20.7?(3)° (mol-ecule B) with that of the benzene ring. Each mol-ecule features an intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond, which closes an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via pairs of weak N-H?S inter-actions, forming inversion dimers with an R 2 (2)(8) ring motif for both mol-ecules. The crystal structure also features weak C-H?? ring inter-actions.

One bridges two Er(III) cations and one Co(II) cation through two carboxyl-ate groups and one pyridine N atom, while the other bridges two Er(III) cations and one Co(II) cation through two carboxyl-ate groups. Extensive O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions are present in the crystal, involving all uncoordinated water mol-ecules and the uncoordinated pyridine N atom of one of the ligands bonded to an adjacent coordinated water mol-ecule. The title compound is isotypic with the gadolinium analogue.
