4-(Di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium trichlorido[4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridine-?N]cobaltate(II).

ABSTRACT: In the anion of the title compound, (C7H11N2)[CoCl3(C7H10N2)], the Co(II) ion is coordinated by one N atom from a 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridine (DMAP) ligand and three Cl atoms, forming a CoNCl3 polyhedron with a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. In the crystal, cations and anions are linked via weak N-H?Cl and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Double layers of complex anions stack along the b- axis direction, which alternate with double layers of 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium cations.

The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonding, forming a three-dimensional network. The crystal was a non-merohedral twin emulating tetra-gonal symmetry, but being in fact ortho-rhom-bic.

Project description:The reaction of a cobalt(II) salt with 4-(dimethyl-amino)pyridinium hydro-bromide perbromide yielded the title compound, (C(7)H(11)N(2))[CoBr(3)(C(7)H(9.1)Br(0.9)N(2))]. In the anion, the Co(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry by three Br atoms and the pyridine N atom of a bromine-substituted 4-(dimethyl-amino)pyridine mol-ecule, whose formation probably results from an incomplete substitution (90%) catalysed by the Co(II) ion. One of the three bromine atoms bonded to the metal is disordered over two sites in a 0.9:0.1 ratio. An N-H?Br hydrogen bond connects the cation and anion.

Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of bis-(2,6-di-amino-pyridinium) tetra-chlorido-cobaltate(II).

Project description:In the title mol-ecular salt, (C5H8N3)2[CoCl4], the cations are protonated at their pyridine N atoms and the anion is an almost regular tetra-hedron. The crystal structure consists of alternating inorganic layers, built from tetra-chlorido-cobaltate anions, and organic layers formed by protonated cations of 2,6-di-amino-pyridinium. The crystal packing is governed by C/N-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the organic and the inorganic ions and Cl⋯Cl inter-actions. Moreover, the cations show a π-π stacking inter-action [inter-centroid distance = 3.763 (2) Å]. The prevalence of these inter-actions is illustrated by an analysis of the three-dimensional Hirshfeld surface and by two-dimensional fingerprint plots.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(6)H(9)N(2))(2)[Cu(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)], contains half of a [Cu(pydc)(2)](2-) (pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid) anion and one protonated 2-amino-4-methyl-pyridine (2a4mpH)(+) counter-ion. The anion is a six-coordinated complex with a distorted CuN(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry around the Cu(II) ion. N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds along with ?-? contacts between the pyridine rings of the (2a4mpH)(+) cations [centroid-centroid distance = 3.573?(2)?Å] stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Hg(2)Cl(4)(C(6)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Hg(II) ion is four-coordinated by one pyridine N atom from a 2-amino-4-methyl-pyridine ligand, one terminal Cl atom and two bridging Cl atoms. A distorted tetra-hedral geometry is formed around each Hg(II) ion. The crystal packing is stabilized by intra- and inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonding. There are also ?-? stacking inter-actions in the structure, with centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.594?(6)?Å.

Project description:The title compound, (C(6)H(9)N(2))(2)[Co(C(6)H(2)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·8H(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of CoCl(2)·6H(2)O with 1,4-pyrazine-2,3-dicarb-oxy-lic acid and 2-amino-6-methyl-pyridine in aqueous solution (molar ratio 1:2:2). The Co(II) ion is situated on an inversion centre and is coordinated by two O and two N atoms of two symmetry-related 1,4-pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and two water mol-ecules and has a disorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The asymmetric unit also contains four water mol-ecules. In the crystal, extensive inter-molecular classical N-H?O, O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.490?(1)?Å] connect the various components, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The crystal structures of the title salts, (C7H11N2)2[Mn(NCS)4] (1) and (C7H11N2)3[Mn(NCS)5] (2), consist of manganese(II) cations that are tetra-hedrally (1) or trigonal-bipyramidally (2) coordinated to four or five terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate ligands, respectively, into discrete anionic complexes. The negative charge is compensated by two (1) or three (2) 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium cations, which are protonated at the pyridine N atom. The asymmetric unit of compound 1 consists of one anionic complex and two 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium cations, whereas that of compound 2 consists of two anionic complexes and six 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium cations, all of them located in general positions. These complexes are linked by N-H?S, C-H?S and C-H?N hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium cations and the thio-cyanate ligands into three-dimensional network structures.

Project description:The title compound, (C2H8N)(C7H11N2)[PbCl4], is a hybrid organic-inorganic material. It crystallizes in the space group C2/c and contains one half of a mol-ecule of lead chloride, 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium, and di-methyl-ammonium in the asymmetric unit. The crystal structure exhibits chains of lead chloride capped by 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium and di-methyl-ammoium by hydrogen bonding. This creates a one-dimensional zipper-like structure down the a axis. The crystal structure is examined and compared to a similar structure containing lead chloride and di-methyl-benzene-1,4-diaminium.

Project description:The title compound, {(C6H8N)[AgWSe4]·C6H7N} n , consists of anionic [WAgSe4] n chains, 2-methyl-pyridinium cations and neutral 2-methyl-pyridine mol-ecules. The Se atoms bridge the Ag and W atoms, forming a polymeric chain extending along the b-axis direction. Both the Ag and W atoms are located on a twofold rotation axis and each metal atom is coordinated by four Se atoms in distorted tetra-hedral geometry. In the crystal, the 2-methyl-pyridinium cation and 2-methyl-pyridine mol-ecule are linked via N-H?N hydrogen bonding. Weak C-H?Se inter-actions link the organic components and polymeric anions into a three-dimensional architecture.
