ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title organic-inorganic molecular salt, C6H18N2 (2+)·SiF6 (2-), consists of one anion and one cation together with half of each of two cations and two anions located on inversion centres. The SiF6 (2-) octa-hedral anions are arranged to form sheets parallel to (011), which are linked into a three-dimensional network by the organic cations through N-H?F hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [NH3(CH2)4NH3](2+)·SiF6 (2-), is a hybrid built from an organic butane-1,4-di-ammonium dication linked to a hexa-fluoro-silicate mineral anion. Both ions posses inversion symmetry. In the anion the Si atom is located on an inversion center, while in the cation the center of inversion is situated at the mid-point of the central -CH2-CH2- bond. The Si atom is surrounded by six F atoms, forming a slightly distorted SiF6 (2-) octa-hedron. These octa-hedra are linked to the organic cations through N-H⋯F hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.

The F atoms in the hexa-fluoro-phosphate anion are disordered over two positions and were refined with occupancies of 0.43 (2) and 0.57 (2).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(24)H(26)N(2))[ZnCl(4)], consists of two 2,2'-(hexane-1,6-di-yl)diisoquinolinium cations and two [ZnCl(4)](2-) complex anions. The [ZnCl(4)](2-) anions have a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The dihedral angles between the isoquinoline rings of the two cations are nearly equal [16.1 (2) and 16.3 (2)°]. In the crystal structure, the ordered linear formation is aggregated by weak inter-molecular π-π stacking inter-actions between neighboring isoquinoline pyridine rings with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.779 (4) Å.

Project description:In the title compound, 2C(11)H(10)N(3)O(4)S(+)·SiF(6) (2-), the short C-N distance [1.386 (2) Å] is indicative of a slight conjugation of N with the π electrons of the pyridinium ring, and with those of the sulfonyl group. The dihedral angle between the benzene and pyridinium rings is 77.48 (7)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H⋯F and C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds. The Si atom of the anion lies on a special position.

In the crystal, all of the F atoms act as hydrogen-bond acceptors and link the cations through different graph-set motifs, forming layers developing parallel to (100).

Bis(1,3-dimethyl-1H-imidazolium) hexa-fluoro-silicate methanol 0.33-solvate.

Project description:The title compound, 6C5H9N2 (+)·3SiF6 (2-)·CH3OH, (I), was prepared by recrystallization of the crude salt from methanol along with solvent-free 2C5H9N2 (+)·SiF6 (2-) (II). Crystals of these solvatomorphs can be separated manually. The solvate (I) crystallizes in a rare hexa-gonal space group P6/mcc. Its asymmetric unit comprises one half of an imidazolium cation bis-ected by the crystallographic m-plane, one-sixth and one-twelfth of two crystallographically independent SiF6 (2-) dianions (Si atoms are located on the 3.2 and 6/m inversion centres), and one-twelfth of a methanol mol-ecule (C atoms are situated on the 622 inversion centres, other atoms are disordered between general positions). In (I), all F atoms of 3.2-located SiF6 (2-) dianions participate in the formation of symmetry-equivalent contacts to the H atoms of imidazolium fragments, thus forming rod-type ensembles positioned on the -6 axes. These 'pillar' rods are, in turn, F⋯H inter-linked through SiF6 (2-) dianions disordered around the 6/m centres. The twelvefold disordered methanol mol-ecules are appended to this array by O-H⋯F hydrogen bonds to the 6/m located SiF6 (2-) dianions. In terms of graph-set notation, the first and second level networks in (I) are N 1 = C 2 (2)(7)[3R 4 (4)(14)]D 2 (2)(4) and N 2 = D 2 (2)(5) (C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are not considered). After locating all symmetrically independent atoms in the cation and anions, there remained a strong (> 3 e Å(-3)) residual electron density peak located at the 622 inversion centre. Treatment of this pre-refined model with the SQUEEZE procedure in PLATON [Spek (2009). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155] revealed two voids per unit cell, indicative of the presence of the solvent methanol mol-ecule disordered about the 622 inversion centre.

Project description:In the structure of the polymeric title compound, [ZnCl(2)(C(12)H(18)N(4))](n) or [ZnCl(2)(L)](n), where L = 1,1'-(hexane-1,6-di-yl)diimidazole, the Zn(II) centre is coordinated by two N atoms of two different L ligands and by two chloride anions in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The organic ligand links adjacent metals to form a polymeric chain along the c axis. The chains are further connected into layers parallel to the bc plane by inter-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Two C atoms of the central hexyl chain are disordered over two positions with site-occupancy factors of 0.5.

The naphthalene unit and the hexa-triene chain are each approximately planar (maximum deviations of 0.0143 and 0.0042?Å, respectively), and are inclined to one another at a dihedral angle of 49.20?(4)°. The dihedral angle between the two naphthalene ring systems of neighboring mol-ecules is 85.71?(4)°.

Bis(1,3-dimethyl-1H-imidazolium) hexa-fluoro-silicate: the second monoclinic polymorph.

Project description:The title compound, 2C5H9N2 (+)·SiF6 (2-), (I), crystallized as a new polymorph, different from the previously reported one (Ia) [Light et al. (2007 ▶) private communication (refcode: NIQFAV). CCDC, Cambridge, England]. The symmetry [space groups P21/n for (I) and C2/c for(Ia)] and crystal packing patterns are markedly different for this pair of polymorphs. In (I), all imidazolium cations in the lattice are nearly parallel to each other, whereas a herringbone arrangement can be found in (Ia). In (I), each SiF6 (2-) dianion forms four short C-H⋯F contacts with adjacent C5H9N2 (+) cations, resulting in the formation of layers parallel to the ac plane. In (Ia), the C-H⋯F contacts are generally longer and result in the formation of layers along the bc plane.

Hexane-1,6-diammonium dinitrate.

Project description:The hexane-1,6-diammonium cation of the title compound, C(6)H(18)N(2) (2+)·2NO(3) (-), lies across a crystallographic inversion centre and shows significant deviation from planarity in the hydro-carbon chain. This is evident from the torsion angle of -64.0°(2) along the N-C-C-C bond and thse torsion angle of -67.1°(2) along the C-C-C-C bonds. An intricate three-dimensional hydrogen-bonding network exists in the crystal structure, with each H atom on the ammonium group exhibiting bifurcated inter-actions to the nitrate anion. Complex hydrogen-bonded ring and chain motifs are also evident, in particular a 26-membered ring with graph-set notation R(4) (4)(26) is observed.
