Project description:Age-matched stage 13 embryos were dissected and cDNA of 8 organs from each embryo were sequenced. The organs were foregut, anterior midgut, posterior midgut, hindgut, Malpighian tubules, left salivary gland, right salivary gland, ventral nerve cord. Gene expression, transcription start and stop sites, and strands of termini were analysed. SMART amplification adapters were used for finding transcript termini and for phasing.
Project description:The transcriptional profile of four tissues for the multi insecticide Anopheles gambiae (Tiassale) and lab susceptible Anopheles gambiae strain N'Gousso. The malpighian tubules, abodmen integument (containing the fat body epidermal, neuronal, muscle and oenocyte cells), midgut and remaining structures were dissected and compared two ways: (i) each body part against the corresponding whole organism (ii) resistant against corresponding susceptible body parts.
Project description:Proteins produced in the salivary glands of arthropod herbivores can function as effectors to modify plant defense responses. To obtain a set of candidate, salivary gland specific genes for the mite herbivore Tetranychus urticae, mites were dissected and the head region was recovered. Specifically, the proterosoma was dissected from 250 mites. This includes the salivary glands, and other nearby tissue (given their small size, exact micro-dissection of salivary glands was not possible). As a reference for assessing differential expression to identify genes that might be salivary gland specific, three replicates of 100 whole mites were used. Female mites, which are much larger than males, were used in all cases for collection of RNA.
Project description:We analyzed ORC2 ChIP-Seq from hand dissected salivary glands of wandering third instar larvae from OrR or SuUR Drosophila. Goals were to ascertain the difference in binding profile between salivary glands expressing and not expressing the Supressor of UnderReplication protein.
