Dihydrogen phosphate mediated supramolecular frameworks in 2- and 4-chloroanilinium dihydrogen phosphate salts.

ABSTRACT: The title compounds, 2-chloroanilinium dihydrogen phosphate (2CADHP) and 4-chloroanilinium dihydrogen phosphate (4CADHP), both C(6)H(7)NCl(+) x H(2)PO(4)(-), form two-dimensional supramolecular organic-inorganic hybrid frameworks. In 2CADHP, the dihydrogen phosphate anions form a double-stranded anionic chain generated parallel to the [010] direction through O-H...O hydrogen bonds, whereas in 4CADHP they form a two-dimensional supramolecular net extending parallel to the crystallographic (001) plane into which the cations are linked through strong N-H...O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(4)H(12)N(+)·H(2)PO(4) (-)·0.5H(2)O, the anions form an infinite hydrogen-bonded chain along the [10] direction. The anion chains are connected by water mol-ecules, which lie on crystallographic twofold rotation axes, through O-H?O hydrogen bonds. In the structure, pairs of symmetry-related anions are connected into centrosymmetric clusters via strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds forming six-membered rings with an R(2) (2)(6) motif. These clusters are inter-connected via water mol-ecules through OW-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, building an infinite layer parallel to the ab plane.
