Trans-Bis[2-(piperazin-1-yl)-ethan-amine]-bis-(saccharinato)cobalt(II).

ABSTRACT: In the centrosymmetric title complex, [Co(C(7)H(4)NO(3)S)(2)(C(6)H(15)N(3))(2)], the Co(II) ion is coordinated by two saccharinate (sac) anions and two neutral 2-piperazin-1-ylethanamine (ppzea) ligands, showing a distorted octa-hedral coordination. Sac is O-bonded via the carbonyl group, while ppzea acts as an N,N'-bidentate chelating ligand. The mol-ecules are connected by N-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a linear chain running parallel to the crystallographic a axis. The compound is isostructural with the reported Ni, Zn, and Cd analogues.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Co(C4H11N2)2(H2O)4](SO4)2·2H2O, the Co(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by four water O atoms and two piperazinium N atoms. These four water O atoms define an equatorial plane with a maximum deviation of 0.0384 (1) Å while the two piperazinium N atoms complete the octa-hedron in the axial positions. Neighboring complex mol-ecules and sulfate anions are connected through an extensive network of N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which link the different chemical species into layers in the ab plane. Additional Owater-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the non-coordinating water mol-ecules and C-H⋯O inter-actions connect these layers into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The bidentate 1,3,4-thia-diazole ligand substituted by two 2-pyridyl rings (denoted L) has been found to produce the new monomeric title complex, [Co(C(12)H(8)N(4)S)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](BF(4))(2). The thia-diazole and pyridyl rings surrounding the Co atom are almost coplanar [dihedral angle = 4.35?(7)°]. The mean plane defined by these heterocyclic moieties makes a dihedral angle of 18.72?(6)° with the non-coordinated pyridyl ring. The Co(2+) cation, located at a crystallographic center of symmetry, is bonded to two ligands and two water mol-ecules in a trans configuration in an octa-hedral environment. The tetra-fluorido--borate ions can be regarded as free anions in the crystal lattice. Nevertheless, they are involved in an infinite two-dimensional network along the [010] and [101] directions of O-H?F hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(13)H(14)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)](C(12)H(8)O(6)S(2))·H(2)O, the cation, anion and uncoordinated water mol-ecule have crystallographically imposed twofold symmetry. The cobalt(II) atom exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry provided by two N atoms from two 1,3-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)propane ligands and the O atoms from four water mol-ecules. The dihedral angle between the pyridine rings in the ligand is 86.14 (11)°, whereas the dihedral angle formed by the symmetry-related benzene rings in the anion is 35.81 (12)°. In the crystal, cations, anions and water mol-ecules are linked into layers parallel to the ac plane by O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen-bond inter-actions. The layers are further connected into a three-dimensional network by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The search for new mol-ecular materials with inter-esting magnetic properties, using the pseudohalide azide ion and di-2-pyridyl-amine (dpa, C10H9N3) as a chelating ligand, led to the synthesis and structure determination of the title compound, [Co(N3)2(dpa)2]2SO4·2H2O. The crystal structure comprises discrete [Co(dpa)2(N3)2](+) cations, sulfate anions, as well as H2O solvent mol-ecules. The Co(III) cations display a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere defined by two N atoms from azide anions and four N atoms from the pyridyl rings of two dpa ligands. In the crystal, extensive C-H⋯O, N-H⋯O, and O-H⋯O inter-actions result in supra-molecular sheets that lie parallel to the ab plane. The sheets are further linked through O-H⋯N inter-actions between the water mol-ecules of one sheet and azide anions of another sheet, forming a supra-molecular framework.

Project description:The Hg atom in the title complex, [HgCl(2)(C(12)H(13)N(3))], adopts a square-pyramidal geometry, being ligated by three N atoms of the tridentate bis-(2-pyridylmeth-yl)amine ligand and two Cl atoms, with one of the latter occupying the apical position. Disorder is noted in the amine portion of the ligand and this was modelled over two sites, with the major component having a site-occupancy factor of 0.794 (14).
