ABSTRACT: The Co(II) atom in the title complex, {[Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](C(8)H(4)O(4))}(n), is coordinated by two N atoms of two bipyridine ligands and four O atoms of four water mol-ecules in an octahedral geometry. The one-dimensional [Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](2+) cation chain is further extended into a supra-molecular network via O-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-actions. The Co atom lies on a twofold rotation axis; another twofold rotation axis passes through the carboxylate carbon atoms and the attached ring C atoms.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](ClO(4))(2)·2C(10)H(8)N(2)·2H(2)O}(n), slightly distorted octa-hedrally coordinated Co(II) ions situated on inversion centers are linked into polycationic chains through 4,4'-bipyridine tethering ligands. These are connected into supra-molecular layers by hydrogen bonding involving aqua ligands, perchlorate anions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules. A twofold inter-penetrated primitive cubic supra-molecular network is formed by the inter-action of pseudo-layers by hydrogen bonding between aqua ligands and unligated 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, {[Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](C(7)H(3)NO(4))·3H(2)O}(n), consists of Co(II) polymeric complex cations, uncoordinated pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate anions and lattice water mol-ecules. The Co(II) cation is coordinated by two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipyridine ligands and four water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The 4,4'-bipyridine ligands bridge Co cations, forming a polymeric chain running along the b axis. The two pyridine rings of the 4,4'-biyridine are twisted to each other by a dihedral angle of 8.95 (9)°. Extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding network is present in the crystal structure.

The Co(II) atom, located on an inversion centre, is coordinated by two carboxyl-ate groups of the sulfoisophthalate trianions and by four water mol-ecules in a distorted CoO(6) octa-hedral geometry. Two independent Na(I) atoms also have a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry formed by water, carboxyl-ate O and sulfonate O atoms. Project description:In the title complex, {[Zn(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](C(10)H(6)O(6)S(2))}(n), the [Zn(4,4'-bipy)(H(2)O)(4)](2+) (4,4'-bipy is 4,4'-bipyridine) cations are linked into linear chains along [001] by the 4,4'-bipy ligands. The Zn(II) ion exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry in which the four water mol-ecules are in the equatorial positions. The anions are hydrogen bonded to the polycationic chains by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The Zn(II) ion, 4,4'-bipy ligand and anion lie on special positions of 2/m site symmetry.

Project description:The title complex, [CoNa(CO5P)(H2O)5]n, was obtained by reacting sodium phosphono-formate with cobalt nitrate. The complex contains cobalt(II) and sodium ions, which are bridged by the O atoms of two aqua ligands. The Co(II) ion is octahedrally coordinated by three phosphonoformato ligands (one bi- and the other monodentate) and by two O atoms from the bridging aqua ligands. The sodium cation is hexa-coordinated by six O atoms from four bridging and two terminal aqua ligands. The complex mol-ecules are linked to give a three-dimensional structure by phosphono-formate ligands bridging Co(II) atoms and water mol-ecules establishing cobalt-sodium bridges. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the aqua ligands and all O atoms of the phosphono-formato ligand and neighbouring aqua ligands help to consolidate the packing.

The Co(II) cation is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by two pyridine N atoms, two carboxyl-ate O atoms and two water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The asymmetric unit contains two anionic L ligands. One bridges two Er(III) cations and one Co(II) cation through two carboxyl-ate groups and one pyridine N atom, while the other bridges two Er(III) cations and one Co(II) cation through two carboxyl-ate groups. Extensive O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions are present in the crystal, involving all uncoordinated water mol-ecules and the uncoordinated pyridine N atom of one of the ligands bonded to an adjacent coordinated water mol-ecule. The title compound is isotypic with the gadolinium analogue.

The cation lies on a twofold rotation axis; the Mn(II) atom is coordinated by four water mol-ecules and a chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. A partially overlapped arrangement between the bipyridine ligands and the aromatic ring of the sulfoisophthalate group of adjacent anions is observed; the distance (3.357 Å) indicates π-π stacking. Hydrogen bonds, with the water mol-ecules serving as hydrogen-bond donors, lead to a three-dimensional network architecture.
