The P atoms are four-coordinated in distorted tetra-hedral configurations by three phenyl and one methyl C atoms. There are weak intra- and inter-molecular N-H?I contacts.

Project description:The title hydrated salt, C26H32O3P(+)·Cl(-)·H2O, contains four different substit-uents (H, alkyl, aryl, and biar-yl) on the P atom. The P-H hydrogen atom of the phospho-nium ion was located in a difference Fourier map and refined without imposing additional restraints. In the crystal, the Cl(-) ions and water mol-ecules are linked by pairs of Owater-H⋯Cl(-) hydrogen bonds and further linked to the phospho-nium cation by P-H(+)⋯Cl(-) and CAr/OMe-H⋯Owater hydrogen bonds to form an infinite one-dimensional chain along the [010] direction.

Project description:The mol-ecular geometry of the ionic title compound, C14H17N4 (+)·I(-) or DAZOP(+)·I(-), is essentially featureless. Regarding the crystal structure, in addition to the obvious cation-anion Coulombic inter-actions, the packing is mostly directed by non-covalent inter-actions involving both ring systems, as well as the iodide anion. It consists of cationic mol-ecules aligned along [101] and disposed in an anti-parallel fashion while linked into π-bonded dimeric entities by a stacking contact involving symmetry-related phenyl rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.468 (3) Å and a slippage of 0.951 Å. The dimers are, in addition, sustained by a number of C-H⋯I and I⋯π (I⋯centroid = 3.876 Å) inter-actions involving the anion. Finally, inter-dimeric contacts are of the C-H⋯I and C-H⋯π types.

7-Amino-heptyl-aza-nium iodide.

Project description:The absolute structure of the title compound, [H(3)N-(CH(2))(7)-NH(2)]I, has been determined from the diffraction experiment, the Flack parameter refining to -0.02?(2). In the crystal, adjacent symmetry-related cations are connected by head-to-tail R'H(2)N(+)-H?NH(2)R hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [010]. The remaining four H atoms attached to the amino and the aza-nium group form weak hydrogen bonds to neighbouring iodide anions, producing a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network. The amino group and the aliphatic chain of the 7-amino-heptyl-aza-nium cation show an exact all-trans conformation, within experimental uncertainties. The aza-nium group, to fulfill the needs of hydrogen bonding, is twisted out of the plane defined by the C atoms of the aliphatic chain, the C-C-C-N torsion angle being -65.4?(4)°.

Bis[4-(diphenyl-methyl-eneamino)phen-yl]methanone.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(39)H(28)N(2)O, is a well known dendron used in the synthesis of phenyl-azomethine dendrimers. The central benzophenone core is twisted, as expected, due to hindrance between H atoms: the dihedral angle between core benzene rings is 54.49?(5)°, identical to that of the stable polymorph of benzophenone (56°). For the same reason, phenyl groups substituting imine C atoms make a large dihedral angle, although similar for each imine: 71.83?(6) and 67.64?(5)°. The six aromatic rings in the mol-ecule thus seem to be quite randomly oriented, and such an arrangement is not favorable for efficient stacking inter-actions in the crystal. The same behaviour is observed in the vast majority of diphenyl-imino-containing organics. The low triclinic crystal symmetry may be a consequence of these features.
