ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Co(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(5)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), each cobalt(II) ion is coordinated by two N and two O atoms in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The isophthalate ligands bridge the metal ions to form polymeric zigzag chains extending along the b axis. Weak C-H?O inter-actions contribute to the crystal packing stability.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), there are two symmetry-independent one-dimensional coordination polymers, which are approximately related by noncrystallographic inversion symmetry. Each zigzag chain is constructed from one Co(II) ion, one O-monodentate 5-nitro-isophthalate (ndc) dianion, one N,N'-bidentate 2,2'-bipyridyl ligand and one water mol-ecule. A symmetry-generated O,O'-bidentate ndc dianion completes the cobalt coordination environment, which could be described as very distorted cis-CoN(2)O(4) octa-hedral. The bridging ndc ligands result in parallel chains running along the a direction, and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds arising from the water mol-ecules complete the structure.

The Cu atom is in a distorted octa-hedral environment and the ethyl-enediamine ligand is in a gauche conformation. The sulfate dianion is bridging, forming a one-dimensional chain. A two-dimensional net parallel to (001) is generated by N-H?O hydrogen bonding between the chains.

In the chain, trans-[Cu(imidazole)(2)](2+) units are sequentially bridged by bis-bidentate oxalate ligands, resulting in an octa-hedral CuO(4)N(2) donor set. The Cu⋯Cu separation through the oxalate bridge is 5.620 (5) Å. Both the Cu atoms and the C-C bond of the oxalate bridge are bis-ected by inversion centres.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(6)H(9)N(2)O(3)S)(2)](n), the copper(II) ion sits on an inversion center and is chelated by the imidazole N and sulfonate O atoms of two ligands in equatorial positions. O atoms of adjacent mol-ecules coordinate in the axial positions. Jahn-Teller tetra-gonal distortion is evident in the coordination geometry [Cu-N and Cu-O equatorial distances of 1.971 (3) and 2.045 (2) Å, respectively, with a Cu-O axial distance of 2.433 (3) Å]. The structure is propagated by an infinite chain of eight-membered (Cu-O-S-O)(2) ring systems along the a axis. Only N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding exists between the chains.

Project description:The title copper coordination polymer, [Cu(3)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(2)(C(8)H(5)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), was synthesized by reacting Cu(NO(3))(2), isophthalic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline under hydro-thermal conditions. The trinuclear unit presents a central almost planar CuO(4) chromophore with the cation on a symmetry center, and two symmetry-related CuN(2)O(3) groups with the metal centre in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. These units are bridged by isophthalate ligands into one-dimensional double-chain coordination polymers which are, in turn, connected by various π-π stacking inter-actions (face-to-face distance ca 3.45 Å) and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(8)H(3)BrO(4))(C(5)H(5)N)(3)], is the first structurally characterized complex with a transition metal coordinated by a 5-bromo-isophthalate anion. The Ni(II) ion is coordinated by three O atoms from the carboxyl-ate groups and three N atoms from three pyridine ligands in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The 5-bromo-isophthalate anion is planar within 0.057?(2)?Å. The two carboxyl-ate groups of the ligand coordinate the Ni(II) ions in a chelating and monodentate mode, linking the metal atoms into infinite chains along the [010] direction. These chains are stacked together via strong ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance 3.601?(4)?Å], forming a three-dimensional motif.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cd(2)Cl(4)(C(5)H(8)N(2))(3)](n), contains two Cd(II) cations, three 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligands, and four Cl(-) anions. The two Cd(II) atoms have quite different coordination environments: one is octa-hedrally coordinated by four Cl atoms and two N atoms from two 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligands, and the second is in a severely distorted fivefold coordination by four Cl atoms and one N atom from a 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligand. Adjacent Cd(II) cations are inter-connected alternately by pairs of chloride bridges, generating an infinite step-like chain along the a axis. One ethyl group of the 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligand is disordered over two sets of sites with a 0.668?(13):0.332?(13) site-occupancy ratio.
