Catena-Poly[[diaqua-magnesium(II)]-bis-(μ-5-ammonio-isophthalato-κO:O)].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Mg(C(8)H(6)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Mg(II) ion lies on a twofold roatation axis and is coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. Pairs of bridging ammonium-isophthalate ligands connect symmetry-related Mg(II) ions, forming chains along [010]. In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link these chains into a three-dimensional network. The centroids of pairs of symmetry-related benzene rings within a chain are separated by 3.5707 (12) Å.

Weak C-H⋯O inter-actions contribute to the crystal packing stability.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(4)H(4)O(4))(C(9)H(7)N)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Co(II) cation, located on an inversion center, is coordinated by two succinate anions, two isoquinoline ligands and two water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The succinate anion, located across another inversion center, bridges the Co cations, forming polymeric chains running along the b axis. The partially overlapped arrangement of parallel isoquinoline ring systems of adjacent polymeric chains and the shorter face-to-face distance of 3.402 (6) Å indicates the existence of weak π-π stacking in the crystal structure. Classical intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and weak non-classical inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding help to stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The hydro-thermal reaction of CoCO(3) and 4-fluoro-benzoic acid afforded the title Co(II) complex, [Co(C(7)H(4)FO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n). The Co(II) atom is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by six O atoms from two water mol-ecules and four μ(2)-carboxyl-ate groups of 4-fluoro-benzoate anions, forming a distorted CoO(6) octa-hedron, with Co-O bond lengths in the range 2.071 (2)-2.130 (2) Å. All adjacent O-Co-O angles are in the range 84.78 (6)-95.22 (6)° and opposite angles are 180.0°. Each μ-carboxyl-ate group of the 4-fluoro-benzoate anions bridges two symmetry-related Co(II) atoms. Hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of the coordinated water mol-ecules further connect the cobalt-carboxyl-ate units, forming layers perpendicular to the a axis. The cobalt-oxygen layers are encased in a sandwich-like fashion by layers of π-stacked 4-fluoro-benzoate anions. Within these layers the benzene rings of the 4-fluoro-benzoate anions are π-stacked, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.432 (4) Å.

Project description:The title compound, [CdCl(2)(C(9)H(11)NO(2))](n), is a coordination polymer prepared by the hydro-thermal reaction of cadmium(II) chloride and 3-amino-3-phenyl-propanoic acid. Geometric parameters are in the usual ranges. The cadmium cation is octa-hedrally coordinated by four Cl atoms at equatorial sites and two O atoms from two ligands at the axial sites. The material is composed of one-dimensional extended polymeric chains in which two Cl atoms bridge Cd atoms. The crystal structure is stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond.

Project description:The title copper coordination polymer, [Cu(3)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(2)(C(8)H(5)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), was synthesized by reacting Cu(NO(3))(2), isophthalic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline under hydro-thermal conditions. The trinuclear unit presents a central almost planar CuO(4) chromophore with the cation on a symmetry center, and two symmetry-related CuN(2)O(3) groups with the metal centre in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. These units are bridged by isophthalate ligands into one-dimensional double-chain coordination polymers which are, in turn, connected by various π-π stacking inter-actions (face-to-face distance ca 3.45 Å) and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), there are two symmetry-independent one-dimensional coordination polymers related by a non-crystallographic inversion center. Within the polymers, the Cu(II )atoms, coordinated by the water mol-ecule and the chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligands, are bridged by 5-nitro-benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate dianions which act as tridentate ligands; the carboxyl-ate groups exhibit monodentate and symmetric bidentate coordination modes. The Cu(II) atoms show a strongly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. In the crystal structure, the two symmetry-independent coordination polymers form another one-dimensional polymeric structure via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between coordinated water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate groups.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(8)H(3)BrO(4))(C(5)H(5)N)(3)], is the first structurally characterized complex with a transition metal coordinated by a 5-bromo-isophthalate anion. The Ni(II) ion is coordinated by three O atoms from the carboxyl-ate groups and three N atoms from three pyridine ligands in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The 5-bromo-isophthalate anion is planar within 0.057 (2) Å. The two carboxyl-ate groups of the ligand coordinate the Ni(II) ions in a chelating and monodentate mode, linking the metal atoms into infinite chains along the [010] direction. These chains are stacked together via strong π-π inter-actions between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance 3.601 (4) Å], forming a three-dimensional motif.
