ABSTRACT: In the title salt, {(C(10)H(11)N(3))[V(4)O(8)(PO(4))(2)]}(n), cubane-like [V(4)O(8)](4+) clusters are connected by phosphate anions into anionic [V(4)P(2)O(16)](n) (2n-) layers. These aggregate into the three-dimensional structure via N-H?O hydrogen-bonding mechanisms imparted by 4,4'-imino-dipyridinium dications situated between the layers.

Project description:In the title compound, {(C(10)H(11)N(3))[Zn(3)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(4)]·2H(2)O}(n), divalent Zn atoms are linked into trinuclear units featuring tetra-hedral, octa-hedral and distorted tetrahedral, octahedral and square-pyramidal coordination geometries. These trinuclear units are connected by isopthalate dianions into [Zn(3)(isophthalate)(4)](n) (2n-) anionic layers, which aggregate into the three-dimensional structure via hydrogen-bonding pathways mediated by doubly protonated 4,4'-imino-dipyridinium cations and water mol-ecules of crystallization. One solvent water mol-ecule was found to be disordered over two positions, each with a 50% site-occupancy factor.

Project description:The title compound, (NH4)4(C4H12N5)2[V10O28]·6H2O, crystallizes with the deca-vanadate anion placed on an inversion centre in space group P . This anion is surrounded by a first shell of ammonium cations and water mol-ecules, forming efficient N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. A second shell includes metforminium monocations with a twisted geometry, also forming numerous inter-molecular hydrogen bonds. The complex three-dimensional network of non-covalent inter-actions affords a crystal structure in which the cations and anions are densely packed.

Project description:The title compound, (C(13)H(16)N(2))[NiCl(4)] or (H(2)bpp)·NiCl(4) [bpp is 1,3-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)propane], is isostructural with its already reported Cu, Zn and Hg analogues. The structure consists of a doubly charged (H(2)bpp)(2+) cation and a tetra-hedral [NiCl(4)](2-) dianion. Both pyridyl N atoms are protonated and form a (H(2)bpp)(2+) cation which adopts an anti-anti conformation with a dihedral angle of 6.287?(7)° between the pyridyl rings. The two pyridyl N atoms are both involved in strong N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, which link both units into a dimer.

Project description:The title compound, (C4H12N5)4(C2H7N4O)2[V10O28]·4H2O, is a by-product obtained by reacting ammonium metavanadate(V), metformin hydro-chloride and acetic acid in the presence of sodium hypochlorite, at pH = 5. The crystal structure comprises a deca-vanadate(V) anion (V10O28)6- lying on an inversion centre in space group P , while cations and solvent water mol-ecules are placed in general positions, surrounding the anion, and forming numerous N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Metforminium (C4H12N5)+ and guanylurea (C2H7N4O)+ cations display the expected shape. Inter-estingly, in physiology the latter cation is known to be the main metabolite of the former one. The reported structure thus supports the role of sodium hypochlorite as an oxidizing reagent being able to degrade metformin hydro-chloride to form guanylurea.

Project description:The title tetra-nuclear Sn(IV) complex, [Sn(4)(C(4)H(9))(8)(C(10)H(6)NO(2))(4)O(2)], is a cluster built up by inversion symmetry around the central Sn(2)O(2) ring. The coordination geometries of the Sn atoms involved can be classified into two types: the five-coordinate Sn atoms of the central Sn(2)O(2) core have a trigonal-bipyramidal geometry, with axial positions occupied by a μ(3)-O atom and a μ(2)-O atom belonging to the nonchelating quinaldate ligand. The peripheral Sn atoms are six-coordinate, with a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The methyl group of an n-butyl ligand is disordered over two sites, with occupancies of 0.643 (12) and 0.357 (12).

Project description:The title compound, [Sn(4)(CH(3))(8)(C(8)H(7)O(2))(4)O(2)], is a distann-oxane derivative of 2-methyl-benzoic acid. The crystal structure is composed of centrosymmetric dimers lying about inversion centres. Both independent Sn atoms adopt distorted trigonal-bipyramidal SnC(2)O(3) coordination geometries with the basal planes consisting of two C-atoms from the methyl groups and a bridging O atom. The Sn-C and Sn-O bond lengths lie in the ranges 2.090 (2)-2.104 (3) and 2.0241 (14)-2.2561 (15) Å, respectively. The central four-membered planar Sn(2)O(2) ring [Sn⋯Sn distance = 3.2993 (2) Å] makes dihedral angles of 5.43 (11) and 59.50 (7)° with the methyl-phenyl groups, which are themselves oriented at a dihedral angle of 61.38 (8)°. Besides weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions, the packing mainly features van der Waals forces between the mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title salt, [Eu(C3H7NO)8][PMo12O40], the asymmetric unit comprises one α-Keggin-type [PMo12O40](3-) polyoxidometalate anion and one distorted dodeca-hedral [Eu(C3H7NO)8](3+) complex cation. In the crystal, the isolated polyoxidometalate anions are packed into hexa-gonally arranged rows extending parallel to [001]. The complex cations are situated between the rows and are linked to the neighbouring anions through weak C-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network structure.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, [Co(4)(C(2)O(4))(PO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), there are layers composed of the phosphate anions and two independent Co(II) cations. These layers are parallel to (001) and are bridged by the oxalate anions that are situated in special positions on centres of symmetry. One independent Co atom has an octa-hedral coordination, while the second independent Co atom is coordinated in a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination that includes the water mol-ecule. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecules and oxalate O atoms.

Project description:The title compound, [Mo(4)(C(16)H(20))(2)O(8)]·6H(2)O, is a centrosymmetric ansa-molybdocene complex in which two dinuclear [C(2)Me(4)(η(5)-C(5)H(4))(2)]Mo(μ(2)-O)(2)MoO(2) units dimerize by forming two μ(3)-O bridges between three Mo atoms. The ansa-molybdocene [C(2)Me(4)(η(5)-C(5)H(4))(2)]Mo unit has a typical bent-sandwich metallocene structure with an inter-ring angle of 127.98 (8)°. The Mo atom in the bridging (μ(2)-O)(μ(3)-O)(2)MoO(2) group has a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination. The Mo-(μ(3)-O) and Mo-(μ(2)-O) bond distances inside the units [2.0869 (14) and 2.1014 (15) Å, respectively] are slightly longer than the Mo(-x + 1, -y + 1, -z)-(μ(3)-O) bond distance between the units [1.9986 (14) Å]. The solvent water mol-ecules together with complex O atoms form a network of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
