Poly[diaqua-?(4)-oxalato-di-?(6)-phosphato-tetra-cobalt(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the structure of the title compound, [Co(4)(C(2)O(4))(PO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), there are layers composed of the phosphate anions and two independent Co(II) cations. These layers are parallel to (001) and are bridged by the oxalate anions that are situated in special positions on centres of symmetry. One independent Co atom has an octa-hedral coordination, while the second independent Co atom is coordinated in a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination that includes the water mol-ecule. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecules and oxalate O atoms.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title complex, [Yb(2)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(2)(C(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n), features an extended three-dimensional framework made up of Yb(3+) ions coordinated by terephthalate ligands, oxalate ligands and water mol-ecules. The Yb(3+) ion has a distorted square-anti-prismatic coordination formed by one aqua ligand, two O atoms from an oxalate ligand and five O atoms belonging to four terephthalate anions. Two symmetry-independent terephthalate anions, as well as the oxalate anion, occupy special positions on inversion centers. The water molecule participates in O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding with both terephthalate anions.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu4(C2O4)2(N3)4(C5H9N3)2]·0.9H2O, contains a tetranuclear Cu(II)-based molecule composed of two oxalate-bridged Cu(II) dimers linked through end-on azide ions and related by an inversion center. The tetranuclear unit contains two crystallographically independent Cu(II) ions. One Cu(II) ion coordinates to two N atoms of a histamine mol-ecule, two O atoms of a bridging oxalate ligand, and an N atom of an end-on bridging azide ligand, leading to an elongated square-pyramidal coordination geometry in which the azide ion occupies the axial position. The other Cu(II) ion, which has a square-planar coordination geometry, is coordinated by two O atoms of a bridging oxalate ligand and two N atoms of two different azide ligands, one which is bridging. In the crystal, a two-dimensional network parallel to (010) is formed by N-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. A partially occupied solvent water mol-ecule refined to an occupancy of 0.447 (5). Two of the azide ligands were refined as disordered over two sets of sites with refined occupancies in the ratios 0.517 (8):0.483 (8) and 0.553 (5):0.447 (5).

Project description:The title compound, [Zn(3)(C(6)H(5)O(7))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), is a polymer in which the repeating unit contains three zinc atoms, two hepta-dentate Hcit ligands (Hcit = citric acid trianion) and two coordinated water mol-ecules, only half of which are independent due to one of the metal atoms lying on a centre of symmetry. The two independent cations both exhibit an octa-hedral geometry, but the way in which they are coordinate are different; while the Zn atom in a general position is bound to three Hcit ligands and one water mol-ecule, the one at the centre of symmetry is coordinated by six O atoms from two symmetry-related Hcit ligands through the (protonated) hydroxyl and carboxyl-ate groups. The three carboxyl-ate groups coordinate to the Zn centres in three different ways, viz. chelating, bridging and a mixture of both, in an unusual coordination mode for citrate. The result is a two-dimensional structure parallel to (010), built up by a square-grid motif. Intermolecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are present in the crystal structure.
