A new ?-octa-molybdate(VI) salt based on 1,4-bis-(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)butane.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, bis-[2,2'-dimethyl-3,3'-(butane-1,4-di-yl)diimidazol-1-ium] ?-octa-molybdate(VI), (C(12)H(20)N(4))(2)[Mo(8)O(26)], was produced by hydro-thermal reaction of an acidified aqueous solution of Na(2)MoO(4) and 1,4-bis-(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)butane (hereafter L). The structure of the title compound consists of the ?-octa-molybdate anions having a center of symmetry, and protonated [H(2)L](2+) cations, which link the ?-octa-molybdate anions, generating a supra-molecular chain via hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [NiCl(2)(C(10)H(14)N(4))(2)](n), consists of one Ni(2+) ion which is located on an inversion center, one 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-yl)butane (bimb) and one chloride ion. The Ni(2+) ion exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment defined by four N atoms from four bimb ligands in the equatorial plane and two chloride ions in axial positions. The bridging coordination mode of the bimb ligands leads to the formation of inter-penetrating square Ni(4)(bimb)(4) units that are arranged parallel to (001). The separation between the Ni atoms in these units is 13.740?(3)?Å.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C16H26N4O6S2·2H2O, a water-soluble di-N-heterocyclic carbene ligand precursor was determined using a single crystal grown by the slow cooling of a hot N,N-di-methyl-formamide solution of the compound. The dihydrate crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c, with half of the zwitterionic mol-ecule and one water mol-ecule of crystallization in the asymmetric unit. The remaining part of the mol-ecule is completed by inversion symmetry. In the mol-ecule, the imidazole ring planes are parallel with a plane-to-plane distance of 2.741?(2)?Å. The supra-molecular network is consolidated by hydrogen bonds of medium strength between the zwitterionic mol-ecules and the water mol-ecules of crystallization, as well as by ?-? stacking inter-actions between the imidazole rings of neighbouring mol-ecules and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Each pda(2-) anion acts as a μ(3)-bridge, linking Cd(II) atoms to form one-dimensional slabs extending parallel to [010]. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked through N-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title N-heterocyclic carbene compound, C(32)H(30)N(4) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), the mean plane of the naphthalene ring system makes dihedral angles of 79.15?(15) and 76.85?(16) with the imidazole rings and 56.15?(19) and 80.56?(16)° with the benzene rings. An intra-molecular C-H?N hydrogen bond occurs. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H?F inter-actions. In addition, ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.848?(1) and 3.574?(3)?Å] are observed. The nine equatorial F atoms in the two PF(6) (-) anions were disordered over two positions with occupancy ratios of 0.545?(10):0.455?(10) and 0.793?(11):0.207?(11) in the two anions.
