1,2-Bis{bis-[4-(trifluoro-meth-yl)phen-yl]phosphino}ethane.

ABSTRACT: Crystals of the title compound, C(30)H(20)F(12)P(2) or R(2)PCH(2)CH(2)PR(2) (R = 4-C(6)H(4)CF(3)), were inadvertently prepared while attempting to recrystallize a crude sample of trans-Re(Cl)(N(2))(R(2)PCH(2)CH(2)PR(2))(2) from diethyl ether. The molecule lies on a center of inversion. One of the rings lies approximately in the P-C-C-P plane; the dihedral angle is 174.53°.The other ring is not quite perpendicular; the dihedral angle is 71.1°. The compound is isostructural with the R = Ph, 4-C(6)H(4)CH(3) and 4-C(6)H(4)CH(2)CH(3) analogues. It is well known that the basicity of phosphines and diphosphines can be altered by changing the electron-donating ability of R; however, the structural parameters for the title compound do not significantly differ from those of the aforementioned substituted-phenyl compounds.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title Schiff base compound, C(18)H(12)Cl(2)F(6)N(2), adopts an E configuration with respect to the azomethine C=N bond. Intra-molecular C-H?F (× 2) and C-H?Cl (× 2) hydrogen bonds generate S(5) ring motifs. The imino group is coplanar with the aromatic ring. Within the mol-ecule, the planar units are parallel, but extend in opposite directions from the methyl-ene bridge, as indicated by the dihedral angle between the two benzene rings of 3.74?(6)°. Project description:The title centrosymmetric complex, [Cu(2)(CN)(2)(C(26)H(24)P(2))(3)]·2CH(3)OH, consists of two five-membered [Cu(dppe)CN] rings [dppe is 1,2-bis-(diphenyl-phosphino)ethane] bridged by one ?(2)-dppe ligand, and two methanol solvent mol-ecules. Project description:The title binuclear compound, [W(2)Cl(6)(NO)(2)(C(10)H(22)P(2))(3)], contains two W atoms which are bridged by a bis-(diethyl-phosphino)-ethane (depe) ligand. The seven-coord-inated tungsten(II) centres display distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometries with trans nitrosyl and chloride ligands. The title mol-ecule lies on a crystallographic inversion centre. The ethane group of the non-bridging depe ligand is positionally disordered, with site-occupancy factors of 0.63 and 0.37. In the crystal structure, the binuclear mol-ecules are linked by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl inter-actions. In addition, weak intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl inter-actions are also present.

(E)-1,2-Bis(4-fluoro-phen-yl)ethane-1,2-dione.

Project description:The title compound, C(14)H(8)F(2)O(2), is a substituted benzil with an s-trans conformation of the dicarbonyl unit. This conformation is also shown by the O-C-C-O torsion angle of -110.65 (12)°. An unusual feature of the structure is the length, 1.536 (2) Å, of the central C-C bond connecting the carbonyl units, which is significantly longer than a normal Csp(2)-Csp(2) single bond. This is probably the result of decreasing the unfavourable vicinal dipole-dipole inter-actions by increasing the distance between the two electronegative O atoms [O⋯O = 3.1867 (12) Å] and allowing orbital overlap of the dione with the π system of the benzene rings. The dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 64.74 (5)°. In the crystal structure, neighbouring mol-ecules are linked together by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O (× 2) hydrogen bonds. In addition, the crystal structure is further stabilized by inter-molecular π-π inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.6416 (6)-3.7150 (7) Å.

Project description:In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(16)H(14)O(2), a substituted benzil, the dicarbonyl unit has an s-trans conformation. This conformation is substanti-ated by the O-C-C-O torsion angle of 108.16 (15)°. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 72.00 (6)°. In the crystal structure, neighbouring mol-ecules are linked together by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions. In addition, the crystal structure is further stabilized by inter-molecular π-π inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.6000 (8)-3.8341 (8) Å.
