ABSTRACT: In the neutral mononuclear iridium(III) title complex, [Ir(C(15)H(10)N)(2)Cl(C(5)H(5)N)]·H(2)O, the Ir atom is coordinated by two N atoms and two C atoms from two 2-(quinolin-2-yl)-phenyl ligands, one N atom from a pyridine ligand and one Cl atom in an octa-hedral geometry.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, {[AsCl3(C5H5N)]·H2O} n , is characterized by polymeric chains consisting of alternating arsenic and chlorine atoms running parallel to the a axis. O-H?Cl and N-H?O hydrogen bonds mediated by non-coordinating water mol-ecules assemble these chains into a three-dimensional framework. The As(III) atom, the atoms of the pyridinium ring and the water O atom have m site symmetry and the bridging Cl atom has site symmetry 2. This is the first reported organotrichloro-arsenate(III) in which arsenic adopts a ?-octa-hedral fivefold coordination.

Project description:In the title complex, [Ir(C11H8N)2(C6H5N2O)], the octa-hedrally coordinated Ir(III) atom is bonded to two 2-(pyridin-2-yl)phenyl ligands, through two phenyl C and two pydidine N atoms, and to one pyridine-2-aldoxime ligand through a pyridine N and an oxime N atom. The oxime O atom of the aldoxime unit forms inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds, which result in a two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded polymeric network parallel to (100). C-H?? inter-actions are also observed.

Project description:The first structure report of trichlorido[4'-(p-tolyl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine]iridium(III) dimethyl sulfoxide solvate, [IrCl(3)(C(22)H(17)N(3))] x C(2)H(6)OS, (I), is presented, along with a higher-symmetry setting of previously reported bis[4'-(p-tolyl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine]iridium(III) tris(hexafluoridophosphate) acetonitrile disolvate, [Ir(C(22)H(17)N(3))(2)](PF(6))(3) x 2 C(2)H(3)N, (II) [Yoshikawa, Yamabe, Kanehisa, Kai, Takashima & Tsukahara (2007). Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. pp. 1911-1919]. For (I), the data were collected with synchrotron radiation and the dimethyl sulfoxide solvent molecule is disordered over three positions, one of which is an inversion center. The previously reported structure of (II) is presented in the more appropriate C2/c space group. The iridium complex and one PF(6)(-) anion lie on twofold axes in this structure, making half of the molecule unique.

Project description:In the title dinuclear iridium(III) complex, [Ir(2)(C(10)H(15))(2)(C(5)H(5)N(2)S)(2)]I(2), the iridium(III) atoms are bridged by 2-(aminosulfanyl)pyridine(1-) [(2-py)SNH] ligands in a ?-(2-py)SNH-?(2)N(py),N(NH):?N(NH) mode. The dinuclear complex cation lies on a crystallographic inversion center, resulting in a planar Ir(2)N(2) ring with an Ir-N(py) bond length of 2.085?(9)?Å and bridging Ir-N(NH) bonds of 2.110?(9) and 2.113?(9)?Å. The two (2-py)S units have mutually anti configurations with respect to the Ir(2)N(2) ring.

Crystal structure of di-?-chlorido-bis-[di-chlorido-bis-(methanol-?O)iridium(III)] dihydrate: a surprisingly simple chlorido-iridium(III) dinuclear complex with methanol ligands.

Project description:The reaction between IrCl3·xH2O in methanol led to the formation of small amounts of the title compound, [Ir2Cl6(CH3OH)4]·2H2O, which consists of two IrCl4O2 octa-hedra sharing an edge via chloride bridges. The mol-ecule lies across an inversion center. Each octa-hedron can be envisioned as being comprised of four chloride ligands in the equatorial plane with methanol ligands in the axial positions. A lattice water mol-ecule is strongly hydrogen-bonded to the coordinating methanol ligands and weak inter-actions with coordinating chloride ligands lead to the formation of a three-dimensional network. This is a surprising structure given that, while many reactions of iridium chloride hydrate are carried out in alcoholic solvents, especially methanol and ethanol, this is the first structure of a chloridoiridium compound with only methanol ligands.

Project description:The structure of the title complex, [ZnCl2(C11H9N3)2], comprises two 2-(phenyl-diazen-yl)pyridine ligands coordin-ating to a central Zn(II) dichloride unit via the pyridyl N-atom donors, resulting in a slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The complex exhibits twofold rotation symmetry, with the rotation axis bis-ecting the zinc cation. The structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H?Cl inter-actions [C?Cl = 3.411?(2) and 3.675?(2)?Å], connecting neighbouring mol-ecules into layers perpendicular to the c axis.

Project description:The title complex compound, [Ir(C27H29N5)Cl(C10H8N2)](CF3SO3)2, was synthesized for a study of iridium(III)/periodate redox systems in water. The coordination geometry of the complex can be best described as distorted octa-hedral, with an r.m.s. deviation of 8.8 (8)% from ideal octa-hedral rectangular geometry. In the crystal, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯F inter-actions between the complex cation and the tri-fluoro-methane-sulfonate anions are observed, as well as a C-H⋯Cl inter-molecular inter-action between neighboring complex cations. In addition, the benzimidazole ring systems display parallel-displaced π-π stacking with centroid-centroid distances of 3.585 (3)-3.907 (3) Å. One of the two tri-fluoro-methane-sulfonate anions is disordered over two orientations with an occupancy ratio of 0.582 (6):0.418 (6). The title complex was characterized using FT-IR, cyclic voltammetry/rotating disc electrode polarography, fluorescence spectrometry, high resolution mass spectrometry, CHN elemental analysis and 1H NMR spectroscopy.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ir(C(10)H(8)N(3))(C(11)H(8)N)(2)], the Ir center is octa-hedrally coordinated by the three chelating ligands, with two cyclo-metalated 2-pyridylphenyl ligands [Ir-N = 2.049?(5) and 2.030?(5)?Å; Ir-C = 2.016?(6) and 2.012?(6)?Å] and a bidentate 2-(phenyl-diazen-yl)pyrrolate ligand [Ir-N = 2.204?(5) and 2.079?(5)?Å]. The Ir-N(diazen-yl) bond is longer than the Ir-N(pyrrolate) bond. The structure is stabilized by aromatic ?-? stacking, the shortest parallel distance between ring centroids being 3.426?(8)?Å..

Project description:In the title compound, (C(10)H(9)N(2))[Fe(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)]·4H(2)O or (bpyH)[Fe(pydc)(2)]·4H(2)O, the asymmetric unit contains an [Fe(pydc)(2)](-) (pydcH(2)= pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid) anion, a protonated 4,4'-bipyridine as a counter-ion, (bpyH)(+), and four uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The anion is a six-coordinate complex with a distorted octa-hedral geometry around the Fe(III )atom. A wide range of non-covalent inter-actions, i.e. O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, ion pairing, C-O⋯π [3.431 (2) Å] and C-H⋯π stacking inter-actions result in the formation of a three-dimensional network structure.

Project description:The title compound, (C(10)H(9)N(2))[Cr(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)]·4H(2)O or (4,4'-bipyH)[Cr(pydc)(2)]·4H(2)O (where 4,4'-bipy is 4,4'-bipyridine and pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), was synthesized by the reaction of chromium(III) chloride hexa-hydrate with pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and 4,4'-bipyridine in a 1:2:4 molar ratio in aqueous solution. This compound is composed of an anionic complex, [Cr(pydc)(2)](-), protonated 4,4'-bipyridine as a counter-ion, (4,4'-bipyH)(+), and four uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The anion is a six-coordinate complex with a distorted octa-hedral geometry around the Cr(III) atom, formed by two tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate, pydc(2-), groups. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, and C-O⋯π stacking inter-actions (with distances of 3.3390 (13) and 3.4575 (13) Å) connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure.
