Bis[benzyl N'-(3-phenyl-prop-2-enyl-idene)hydrazinecarbodithio-ato-κN',S]zinc(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title Zn(II) complex, [Zn(C(17)H(15)N(2)S(2))(2)], the Zn(II) atom lies on a twofold rotation axis. It exists in a tetra-hedral geometry, chelated by two deprotonated Schiff base ligands. The dihedral angle between each ligand is 71.48 (8)°. Mol-ecules are connected by weak C-H⋯S inter-molecular inter-actions into chains along the c axis. The crystal structure is further stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions involving the phenyl ring of the 3-phenyl-prop-2-enyl-idene unit.

Project description:The title compound, C(17)H(17)NO, was prepared by the condensation of cinnamaldehyde with p-phenetidine in ethanol. The prop-2-enyl-idene group exhibits an E configuration at the N=C and C=C double bonds, with C-N-C-C and C-C-C-C torsion angles of -179.9 (3) and -175.9 (3)°, respectively. The prop-2-enyl-idene group is not strictly planar [maximum deviation = 0.054 (4) Å] and forms dihedral angles of 28.0 (3) and 34.9 (3)° with the attached aromatic rings.
