ABSTRACT: The title dinuclear nickel(II) complex, [Ni(2)Cl(4)(C(11)H(10)N(2)O)(2)], lies on a centre of symmetry located at the centroid of the four-membered ring formed by the two Ni atoms and the bridging chloride ions. The Ni(II) atom is five-coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry by the imine and pyridine N atoms of the Schiff base ligand, and by one terminal and two bridging Cl atoms. The Ni?Ni distance is 3.506?(2)?Å. The O atom of the furan substituent in the ligand unit is not involved in coordination to the Ni atom.

One of the bridging Hg-Cl bonds [2.8428?(11)?Å] is significantly longer than the other [2.5327?(10)?Å]. In the crystal, there are weak ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.630?(3)?Å] between the aromatic rings of the discrete units. The HgCl(2) adduct molecule is located on an inversion centre and has an Hg-Cl bond length of 2.2875?(11)?Å.

The Cd(II) ions are linked by double chlorine bridges alternating between one CdCl(4)(CH(3)OH)(2) and two CdCl(4)(C(15)H(15)NO(2)) octa-hedral coordination units. Additional intrachain N-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen-bond interactions stabilize this arrangement.

Project description:The title compound, [CoCd(C9H10NO2)3Cl2]·H2O, is a solvatomorph of the corresponding hemihydrate recently published by us [Nesterova et al. (2018 ▸). Appl. Cat. A, 560, 171-184]. The current structure reveals different cell parameters and space group compared with the published one while both are monoclinic with almost the same cell volume. The title compound is formed of discrete neutral dinuclear mol-ecules with no crystallographically imposed symmetry and water mol-ecules of crystallization. The overall geometry about the cobalt(III) ion is octa-hedral with an N3O3 environment; each ligand acts as a meridional ONO donor. The CdII coordination sphere approximates an irregular square pyramid with a chlorine atom at the apex. There is significant shortening of a Cd-O bond length to the oxygen atom of the methoxo group on one of the ligands [2.459 (3) Å] compared to the corresponding distance in the published structure [2.724 (7) Å], while other Cd-Cl/N/O bonds remain roughly the same. In the crystal lattice, the heterometallic mol-ecules, which are related by the crystallographic n-glide plane and inter-linked by weak hydrogen bonds to solvent water mol-ecules, form columns along [101]. Adjacent columns lie anti-parallel to each other.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu2(C9H10NO2)4], is built of discrete centrosymmetric dimers. The Cu(II) atoms are each five coordinated by two deprotonated Schiff base ligands that are bonded differently to the metal atoms. Of the two phenolate O atoms, one is coordinated to one Cu(II) atom, whereas another bridges the two metal atoms. The basal plane of the square pyramid around Cu(II) atoms is formed by the imino N and phenolate O atoms of the bidentate and the monodentate/bidentate Schiff base ligands. The bridging phenolate oxygen occupies the apical position of the coordination sphere with a considerably longer Cu-O bond length. In the crystal, the dimeric mol-ecules pack relative to each other in such a way that the Cu2O2 planes of adjacent dimers are orthogonal.
