ABSTRACT: In the anion of the title compound, (C(16)H(36)N)[Cd(C(5)H(8)NS(2))(C(12)H(27)O(3)SSi)I], the Cd atom is four-coordinated by S,S'-chelating dithio-carbamate, S-donating silanethiol-ate and iodide ligands in a distorted tetrahedral environment . Inter-molecular C-H? S and C-H?I inter-actions between cations and anions are present. Two C atoms of a tert-butyl group are disordered over two positions; the site occupancies are ca 0.65 and 0.35.

Project description:The title compound, (C(16)H(36)N)(2)[Cd(C(5)O(3)S(2))(2)]·0.25H(2)O, contains two disordered tetra-butyl-ammonium cations, a complex [Cd(C(5)O(3)S(2))(2)](2-) anion and a 0.25-hydrate water. The anion is composed of a bidentate coordinated 3,4,5-trioxocyclo-pent-1-ene-1,2-dithiol-ate (dtcroc) group forming a distorted tetra-hedral configuration around the Cd(II) ion. The dihedral angle between the least-squares planes of the ten-atom sulfur-substituted croconate groups in the anion is 84.10?(8)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak C-H?O and C-H?S cation-anion hydrogen-bond inter-actions. In each of the two cations one butyl group is disordered over two positions in the ratios 0.589?(11):0.411?(11) and 0.796?(12):0.204?(12).

Two ?(3)-Cl atoms fully occupy positions in the cluster core, while the remaining six positions are statistically occupied by Cl and S atoms in a 1:5 ratio. The fully occupied Cl-atom positions are located on sites with 3 symmetry, and the N atom of tetra-butyl-ammonium cation is located on a site with 2 symmetry. The structure contains also two disordered solvent water mol-ecules, one of which is located on a threefold rotation axis and the other in a general position, both with an occupancy of 0.25. The water mol-ecules are localized in cavities formed by the tetra-butyl-ammonium cations and the tert-butane-thiol-ate groups. The metal clusters are stacked in a cubic close packing arrangement along [001].
