ABSTRACT: In the title chromium silanethiol-ate, [Cr(C(12)H(27)O(3)SSi)(2)(C(7)H(9)N)(2)]·C(7)H(8), the Cr(II) atom is coordinated by two S and two N atoms in a distorted square-planar geometrical arrangement. The mononuclear mol-ecule lies on a twofold axis that passes through the pyridine N atoms. The toluene solvent mol-ecule is equally disordered about a twofold axis.

Project description:The Cd(II) atom in the title compound, [Cd(C(12)H(27)O(3)SSi)(2)(C(4)H(6)N(2)O)], is penta-coordinated by two O and two S atoms from the O,S-chelating silanethiol-ate residue and one N from the 4-hydroxy-methyl-imidazole ligand and shows a strongly distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The title complex is isostructural with its zinc analog. The hydroxy group of the ligand is involved in intra-molecular O-H⋯S hydrogen bonding and also acts as an acceptor in the formation of an inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond, which links mol-ecules of the complex into zigzag chains parallel to the b axis. One of the tert-butyl groups is disordered over two orientations with occupancies of 0.557 (12):0.443 (12).

Project description:The title compound, [Zn(2)(C(12)H(27)O(3)SSi)(4)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(CH(4)O)], is a binuclear complex with the two Zn(II) atoms linked via a bridging 4,4'-bipyridyl ligand. One of the Zn(II) atoms is penta-coordinated by two O,S-chelating tri-tert-butoxy-silanethiol-ate units and one N atom of a 4,4'-bipyridine ligand, and the other Zn(II) atom is tetra-hedrally coordinated by two tri-tert-butoxy-silanethiol-ate anions acting as monodentate S ligands, the methanol O atom and the other N atom of the 4,4'-bipyridine ligand. This non-symmetrical coordination induces twisting and bending in the 4,4'-bipyridine ligand and introduces chirality into the system. The crystal studied exhibits inversion twinning. One tert-butyl group is disordered approximately equally over two positions.

Investigation of Bis(Perfluoro-tert-Butoxy) Halogenates(I/III).

Project description:A systematic study of halogenate(I/III) anions with polyatomic ligands is presented. The bis(perfluoro-tert-butoxy) halogenates(I) [X(OC4 F9 )2 ]- , X=Cl, Br, I, of chlorine, bromine, and iodine are prepared as their tetraethylammonium salts and characterized with IR, Raman, and NMR spectroscopic methods, as well as single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Spectroscopical data are supported by quantum-chemical calculations. Additionally, the bonding situation of the species in question are analyzed and discussed. Furthermore, the oxidation to the corresponding halogenate(III) derivatives was studied. For [Br(OC4 F9 )2 ]- , oxidation with elemental fluorine gave [BrF2 (OC4 F9 )2 ]- . Iodide was directly oxidized by ClOC4 F9 to the IIII species [I(OC4 F9 )4 ]- , which is a surprisingly inert anion that might be used as a weakly coordinating anion (WCA) in the future. For [Cl(OC4 F9 )2 ]- , the decomposition products of the synthetic approaches towards a chlorine(III) system were analyzed.

Project description:IN THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: 3,3'-Dibutyl-1,1'-(5-methyl-m-phenyl-enedimethyl-ene)diimidazol-1-ium bis-(hexa-fluoridophosphate)], C(23)H(34)N(4) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), the imidazole rings are inclined at angles of 68.06?(7) and 75.05?(8)° with respect to the central benzene ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into one-dimensional columns along [010] via weak inter-molecular C-H?F hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is further consolidated by weak C-H??(arene) inter-actions. One of the n-butyl groups is disordered over two sites with refined occupancies of 0.694?(5) and 0.306?(5). In addition, four of the F atoms of one of the PF(6) (-) cations are disordered over two sites with occupancies of 0.64?(3) and 0.36?(3).
