ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(8)H(8)N(2)S, was prepared by the condensation of N-methyl-1,2-phenyl-enediamine and carbon disulfide. The crystal structure is stabilized by a C-H?? inter-action between a benzene H atom and the benzene ring of a neighbouring mol-ecule, and by inter-molecular N-H?S inter-actions.

Project description:Two new molecular structures, namely 1,3-bis(trimethylsilyl)-1H-benzimidazole-2(3H)-thione, C13H22N2SSi2, (2), and 1-trimethylsilyl-1H-benzimidazole-2(3H)-thione, C10H14N2SSi, (3), are reported. Both systems were derived from 1H-benzimidazole-2(3H)-thione. Noncovalent C-H···π interactions between the centroid of the benzmidazole system and the SiMe3 groups form helicoidal arrangements in (2). Dimerization of (3) results in the formation of R2(2)(8) rings via N-H···S interactions, along with parallel π-π interactions between imidazole and benzene rings.

Project description:In the title compound, [CuI(C(8)H(8)N(2)S)(C(18)H(15)P)(2)]·CH(3)OH, the coordination environment around the Cu(I) atom is distorted tetra-hedral, defined by two P atoms of two triphenyl-phosphane ligands, one S atom of a 5-methyl-1H-benzimidazole-2(3H)-thione ligand and one I atom. The complex mol-ecules and the methanol solvent mol-ecules are connected via N-H?O and O-H?I hydrogen bonds, forming a chain along [010]. An intra-molecular N-H?I hydrogen bond is also observed.

Project description:The mol-ecular structure of the title compound, [CuCl(C7H12N2S)2], shows a slightly distorted trigonal-planar coordination geometry of the Cu atom. The Cu-Cl bond measures 2.2287?(9)?Å, and the two Cu-S bonds are significantly different from each other, with values of 2.2270?(10) and 2.2662?(10)?Å. Also, the S-Cu-Cl angles differ, with values of 113.80?(4) and 124.42?(4)°, while the S-Cu-S angle is 121.51?(4)°. The two imidazole rings are almost parallel, making a dihedral angle of 2.1?(2)°. In the crystal, the shortest C-H?Cl interactions stabilize a three-dimensional network with molecules linked into centrosymmetric dimers that are stacked along the b-axis direction.

Project description:In the title complex, [CuCl(C8H8N2OS)(C18H15P)2]·2CH3OH, the Cu(I) ion is coordinated by one chloride anion, one S atom from the 5-meth-oxy-1H-benzimidazole-2(3H)-thione ligand and two P atoms from two tri-phenyl-phosphine ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. One of the N-bound H atoms is involved in an intra-molecular N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bond, while another one inter-acts with the solvent methanol mol-ecule via an N-H⋯O hydrogen bond. Inter-molecular O-H⋯Cl and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link two further complex mol-ecules and four solvent mol-ecules into a centrosymmetric structural unit. The short distance of 3.624 (4) Å between the centroids of the five- and the six-membered rings of two benzimidazole fragments indicates the presence of π-π inter-actions.

Project description:There are two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(14)H(11)N(3)OS. In each, the benzimidazole ring system is essentially planar, with maximum deviations of 0.010?(2) and 0.006?(2)?Å, and makes dihedral angles of 8.70?(9) and 13.75?(8)°, respectively, with the hy-droxy-substituted benzene rings. Each mol-ecule adopts an E configuration about the central C=N double bond. In the crystal, the two independent mol-ecules are connected via inter-molecular N-H?S hydrogen bonds, forming dimers. Furthermore, the dimers are connected by N-H?O hydrogen bonds into mol-ecular ribbons along the c axis. There is an intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond in each mol-ecule, which generates an S(6) ring motif.

Project description:The title compound, C(4)H(6)N(2)S(3), has two very similar mol-ecules per asymmetric unit. The nine non-H atoms in each mol-ecule are coplanar, both having comparable r.m.s. deviations of 0.002?Å. The main inter-est in the rather simple structure resides in a survey of very weak (in some cases, borderline) non-bonding inter-actions of various kinds, viz. S?S, C-H??, ?-? [centroid-centroid distance = 3.8958?(13)?Å] and C-S?? [3.7271?(11)?Å], which act as the major driving force for the arrangement of mol-ecules in the structure. The role of long, though highly directional, S?S contacts (d > 3.60?Å), and their relevance to the stability of the structure is discussed.

Project description:There are two unique mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title pyridine-thione derivative, C(6)H(7)NS, each of which adopts the thione rather than the mercaptan form. The rings in both mol-ecules are essentially planar, with maximum deviations from the least-squares planes through all non-H atoms of 0.021?(2) and 0.017?(2)?Å. In the crystal structure, the mol-ecules form centrosymmetric cyclic dimers through inter-molecular N-H?S hydrogen bonds. Additional C-H(meth-yl)?S inter-actions generate a three-dimensional network.
