Benzamidinium tetra-hydro-penta-borate sesquihydrate.

ABSTRACT: THE ASYMMETRIC UNIT OF THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: benzamidinium 3,3',5,5'-tetra-hydr-oxy-1,1'-spirobi[2,4,6-trioxa-1,3,5-triboracyclo-hexa-ne](1-) sesquihydrate], C(7)H(9)N(2) (+)·B(5)H(4)O(10) (-)·1.5H(2)O, is composed of two protonated benzamidinium cations, two tetra-hydro-penta-borate anions and three water mol-ecules of crystallization. The ions and water molecules are associated in the crystal structure by an extensive three-dimensional hydrogen-bonding network, which consists mainly of cation-to-anion N-H?O and anion-to-anion O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The structure consists of penta-borate [B(5)O(6)(OH)(4)](-) anions connected through O-H?O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional framework, with large channels along [100], [010] and [001] directions. The [C(8)H(18)N](+) cations reside in the channels, inter-acting with the framework through N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Ru(C(10)H(15))(C(13)H(10)O)](C(24)H(20)B), consists of discrete [Cp*Ru(II)benzophenone] cations and tetra-phenyl-borate anions (Cp* = penta-methyl-cyclo-penta-dien-yl). Tethering the Cp*Ru group to one aryl ring of benzophenone results in average values of 1.42?(1) and 1.38?(1)?Å for the C-C bond lengths in the Ru-tethered and untethered phenyl rings, respectively. The dihedral angle between the benzene and phenyl rings of the benzophenone group is 50.5?(1)°.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, [Fe{?(5)-C(5)(CH(3))(5)}(NCCH(3))(CO)(2)]BF(4), the arrangement of ligands around the Fe atom is in a pseudo-octa-hedral three-legged piano-stool fashion in which the penta-methyl-cyclo-penta-dienyl (Cp*) ligand occupies three apical coordination sites, while the two carbonyl and one acetonitrile ligands form the basal axes of the coordination. The Fe-N bond length is 1.924?(3)?Å and the Fe-Cp* centroid distance is 1.722?Å.

The C-O bond length of 1.3098?(19)?Å shows that double-bond character and charge delocalization occurs within the NCO plane of the cation. In the crystal, a C-H?? inter-action is present between the methyl-ene H atom of the cation and one phenyl ring of the tetra-phenyl-borate ion. The latter forms an aromatic pocket in which the cation is embedded.

Project description:The title compound, [Na(μ-C6F5BH3)(C4H8O)2]2, represents a dimeric structure of sodium and organoborohydride, located about a centre of inversion. The Na⋯B distances of 2.7845 (19) and 2.7494 (18) Å were apparently longer than the Li⋯B distances (2.403-2.537 Å) of the lithium organotri-hydro-borates in the previous reports. Moreover, an inter-action between the sodium atom and one fluorine atom on the 2-position of the benzene ring is observed [Na-F = 2.6373 (12) Å]. In the crystal, the dimeric mol-ecules are stacked along the b-axis via a π-π inter-action between the benzene rings.

The Ru-C(ipso) bond length of 2.272?(3)?Å is significantly longer, reflecting movement of the Ru atom away from the C atoms with electronegative substituents attached. The amide H atom in the cation forms an inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond with the carbonyl O atom of the acetone solvent mol-ecule. A C-H?O inter-action also occurs.

The structure is composed of one K(+) cation and a polyborate (1) (∞)[B(5)O(7)(OH)(2)](-) anion, which consists of two six-membered rings linked by a common BO(4) tetra-hedron. The [B(5)O(7)(OH)(2)](-) units are linked together through two exocyclic O atoms to neighbouring units, forming a helical chain structure extending parallel to [010]. Adjacent chains are further connected into a three-dimensional structure by K-O bonds and weak O-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions.
