Potassium penta-borate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, K[B(5)O(7)(OH)(2)], was obtained from a hydro-thermal reaction. The structure is composed of one K(+) cation and a polyborate (1) (∞)[B(5)O(7)(OH)(2)](-) anion, which consists of two six-membered rings linked by a common BO(4) tetra-hedron. The [B(5)O(7)(OH)(2)](-) units are linked together through two exocyclic O atoms to neighbouring units, forming a helical chain structure extending parallel to [010]. Adjacent chains are further connected into a three-dimensional structure by K-O bonds and weak O-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [C(8)H(18)N](+)·[B(5)O(6)(OH)(4)](-), has been synthesized under mild solvothermal conditions in the presence of N,N-dimethyl-cyclo-hexyl-amine acting as a template. Tethering the Cp*Ru group to one aryl ring of benzophenone results in average values of 1.42 (1) and 1.38 (1) Å for the C-C bond lengths in the Ru-tethered and untethered phenyl rings, respectively. The dihedral angle between the benzene and phenyl rings of the benzophenone group is 50.5 (1)°.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, [Fe{η(5)-C(5)(CH(3))(5)}(NCCH(3))(CO)(2)]BF(4), the arrangement of ligands around the Fe atom is in a pseudo-octa-hedral three-legged piano-stool fashion in which the penta-methyl-cyclo-penta-dienyl (Cp*) ligand occupies three apical coordination sites, while the two carbonyl and one acetonitrile ligands form the basal axes of the coordination. Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Ru(C(10)H(15))(C(7)H(9)NO(2)S)]C(24)H(20)B, has been determined as part of our investigation into the structural and biological properties of organometallic Ru(II)-arene-Cp* complex salts of the type [R-PhRuCp*](+)·X(-) (where Cp* is penta-methyl-cyclo-penta-diene). Tethering the RuCp* group to the benzene ring of p-toluene-sulfonamide results in only minor changes to the mol-ecular geometry of the sulfonamide, but, together with crystallization as the [BPh(4)](-) salt, effectively blocks involvement of the sulfonamide group in N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding networks.

Project description:The title compounds, K(+)·C7H7BF3O(-), (I), and K(+)·C6H4BF4 (-), (II), are mol-ecular salts containing para-substituted phenyl-tri-fluorido-borate anions. In each compound, the B atom adopts a distorted tetra-hedral BCF3 geometry. Despite their different compositions and space groups, the irregular KF8 coordination polyhedra of the potassium cations in the structures are almost identical. These polyhedra share faces and edges, generating infinite (010) layers in (I) and infinite (001) layers in (II). In (I), adjacent layers are stacked in an AAA… fashion, whereas in (II), they are stacked in an ABAB… sequence.
