Potassium penta-borate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, K[B(5)O(7)(OH)(2)], was obtained from a hydro-thermal reaction. The structure is composed of one K(+) cation and a polyborate (1) (∞)[B(5)O(7)(OH)(2)](-) anion, which consists of two six-membered rings linked by a common BO(4) tetra-hedron. The [B(5)O(7)(OH)(2)](-) units are linked together through two exocyclic O atoms to neighbouring units, forming a helical chain structure extending parallel to [010]. Adjacent chains are further connected into a three-dimensional structure by K-O bonds and weak O-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [C(8)H(18)N](+)·[B(5)O(6)(OH)(4)](-), has been synthesized under mild solvothermal conditions in the presence of N,N-dimethyl-cyclo-hexyl-amine acting as a template. The structure consists of penta-borate [B(5)O(6)(OH)(4)](-) anions connected through O-H?O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional framework, with large channels along [100], [010] and [001] directions. The [C(8)H(18)N](+) cations reside in the channels, inter-acting with the framework through N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Ru(C(10)H(15))(C(13)H(10)O)](C(24)H(20)B), consists of discrete [Cp*Ru(II)benzophenone] cations and tetra-phenyl-borate anions (Cp* = penta-methyl-cyclo-penta-dien-yl). Tethering the Cp*Ru group to one aryl ring of benzophenone results in average values of 1.42?(1) and 1.38?(1)?Å for the C-C bond lengths in the Ru-tethered and untethered phenyl rings, respectively. The dihedral angle between the benzene and phenyl rings of the benzophenone group is 50.5?(1)°.

The polyoxoanion shows characteristic features with respect to bond lengths and angles. Project description:The title compound, [Ru(C(10)H(15))(C(10)H(12)O)][B(C(6)H(5))(4)], crystallizes as discrete (?(5)-penta-methyl-cyclo-penta-dien-yl)Ru(?(6)-4-phenyl-butan-2-one)](+) cations and [BPh(4)](-) anions. In the cation, the non-H atoms of the butan-2-one group are approximately planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.056?Å) and lie nearly perpendicular to the plane of the phenyl ring with a dihedral angle between the two planes of 69.3?(1)°. No significant C-H?O inter-actions are observed between the methyl and phenyl H atoms and the carbonyl O atom.

Project description:The title compounds, K(+)·C7H7BF3O(-), (I), and K(+)·C6H4BF4 (-), (II), are mol-ecular salts containing para-substituted phenyl-tri-fluorido-borate anions. In each compound, the B atom adopts a distorted tetra-hedral BCF3 geometry. Despite their different compositions and space groups, the irregular KF8 coordination polyhedra of the potassium cations in the structures are almost identical. These polyhedra share faces and edges, generating infinite (010) layers in (I) and infinite (001) layers in (II). In (I), adjacent layers are stacked in an AAA… fashion, whereas in (II), they are stacked in an ABAB… sequence.
