Hydrogen-bonding and ?-? stacking inter-actions in tris-(1,10-phenanthroline-?N,N')nickel(II) bis-{[1-tert-butyl-imidazole-2(3H)-thione-?S]trichloridonickelate(II)} acetonitrile disolvate.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Ni(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)][NiCl(3)(C(7)H(12)N(2)S)](2)·2CH(3)CN, consists of one anion, one-half of a cation and one acetonitrile mol-ecule. The Ni(II) atom in the [Ni(phen)(3)](2+) cation (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline) lies on an inversion centre in an octa-hedral environment, whereas in the [NiCl(3)(tm)](-) anion [tm is 1-tert-butyl-imidazole-2(3H)-thione], the geometry is distorted tetra-hedral. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions (centroid-centroid distance = 3.52?Å) lead to the formation of a three-dimensional framework. One of the methyl groups of the tert-butyl group of N-tert-butyl-2-thio-imidazole is disordered between two equally populated positions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(CH(3)CN)(C(13)H(10)N(2))(2)](BF(4))(2), the fivefold-coordinate Cu(II) atom is located on a twofold rotation axis, imposing twofold symmetry to the complete cation. The structure exhibits disorder of the anion, which was successfully refined using a two-site model with 0.810?(3):0.190?(3) occupancy. The methyl group of the acetonitrile ligand is likewise disordered, here about the twofold rotation axis in a 1:1 ratio.

The complex and anions are disposed about a crystallographic mirror plane parallel to the ac plane passing through the Pt and Cl atoms. In the complex, the Pt(II) ion lies in a distorted square-planar environment defined by four N atoms of the chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two distinct acetonitrile mol-ecules. Project description:In the title complex, [PtCl2(C12H6N2O2)]·CH3CN, the Pt(II) atom lies in a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement defined by an N2Cl2 donor set. In the packed structure, columns of complex moieties are stacked such that the neighboring units are oriented at 180° and laterally displaced with respect to each other. This prevents any overlap of the phenanthroline rings and thus there is no possibility of any π-π inter-actions between aromatic rings.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(7)H(5)O(2))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]Cl·2C(6)H(5)CO-OH, the Cu(II) ion is coordinated by one carboxyl-ate O atom from a benzoate anion and four N atoms from two phenantroline ligands in a distorted five-coordinate trigonal-bipyramidal CuON(4) chromophore. The Cu(2+) and the Cl(-) ion are imposed by a twofold rotation axiss which also bisects the equally disordered benzoate anion. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are assembled into chains along [010] by C-H?Cl, O-H?Cl and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. The resulting chains are further connected into two-dimensional supra-molecular layers parallel to [100] by inter-chain ??? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.823?(5)?Å] between the phenanthroline ligands and the benzoic acid mol-ecules, and by C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. Strong ??? stacking inter-actions between adjacent phenantroline ligands [3.548?(4)?Å] assemble the layers into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

Project description:The title compound, [Ru(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(C(13)H(7)N(3)S)](PF(6))(2)·CH(3)CN, was synthesized by the reaction of thio-phosgene and bis-(2,2'-bipyridine)(1,10-phenanthrolin-5-amine)ruthenium(II) bis-(hexa-fluoridophosphate). The Ru(II) atom adopts a slightly distorted octa-hedral RuN(6) coordinaton formed by four N atoms of two bipyridine ligands and by two N atoms of the 1,10-phenantroline ligand. The isothio-cyanate group is almost linear, with an N-C-S angle of 174.4?(6)°. Two of the three hexa-fluoridophosphate counter-anions are located on inversion centres.
