ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cu(CH(3)CN)(C(13)H(10)N(2))(2)](BF(4))(2), the fivefold-coordinate Cu(II) atom is located on a twofold rotation axis, imposing twofold symmetry to the complete cation. The structure exhibits disorder of the anion, which was successfully refined using a two-site model with 0.810?(3):0.190?(3) occupancy. The methyl group of the acetonitrile ligand is likewise disordered, here about the twofold rotation axis in a 1:1 ratio.

The anions are found in aryl boxes formed from the phenanthroline ligands.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, [Ag(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(2))(2)]BF(4) or [AgL(2)]BF(4) (L = phendione), the Ag and B atoms are located on twofold rotation axes. The dihedral angle between the two phendione ligands is 36.7 (2)°. The coordination about the Ag(I) center is distorted tetra-hedral (τ(4) = 0.546). The crystal structure is consolidated by weak C-H⋯O(phendione) and C-H⋯F(BF(4) (-)) inter-actions. The BF(4) (-) counter-anion is strongly disordered and was modelled with two sets of idealized F atoms.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(CH(3)CN)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(2)](BF(4))(2), crystallizes with two copper-containing cations and four tetra-fluoro-borate anions in the asymmetric unit. The structure represents a second crystal form of the salt, the first being an acetonitrile solvate [Watton (2009 ?). Acta Cryst. E65, m585-m586]. The complex cation has a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry, whereas the previous structure exhibits a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. One of the four BF(4) (-) counter-ions is disordered, with a refined site occupancy of 0.8615?(17):0.1385?(17).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Pt(CH(3)CN)(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))](ClO(4))(2), contains one half of a cationic Pt(II) complex and pair of half perchlorate anions, one of which is disordered over two sites in a 0.53?(3):0.47?(3) ratio. The complex and anions are disposed about a crystallographic mirror plane parallel to the ac plane passing through the Pt and Cl atoms. In the complex, the Pt(II) ion lies in a distorted square-planar environment defined by four N atoms of the chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two distinct acetonitrile mol-ecules. The component ions inter-act by means of inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], the Cu(II) atom is coordinated in a square-planar fashion by the two N atoms of a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and by two water mol-ecules trans to the N atoms. The coordination sphere of the metal atom is augmented by O atoms of two weakly bonded perchlorate anions, thus yielding a strongly distorted CuN(2)O(4) octa-hedral environment. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecules and the perchlorate anions. In addition, the organic mol-ecules are associated by π-π stacking inter-actions between symmetry-equivalent anti-parallel non-nitro-gen aromatic rings, with inter-planar distances of 3.543 (2) Å.

A significant Jahn-Teller distortion is observed with two axial Cu-O distances significantly longer than those in the equatorial CuO(2)N(2) plane. In the cation, the Cu(II) atom shows a slightly distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry provided by a pair of ?-OH(-) anions and by the N atoms of a chelate tmen ligand in the basal plane. The apical position is statistically occupied by the O atom of a half-occupancy water mol-ecule. The F atoms of the anion are disordered over three sets of sites with occupancies of 0.598?(9):0.269?(6):0.134?(8). The crystal packing is governed by ionic forces as well as by O-H?F hydrogen bonds.

The coordination geometry around the Cu(II) atom can be described as distorted elongated octa-hedral with R(out) = 2.277?(2)?Å, R(in) = 2.052?(2)?Å and a tetra-gonality of 0.9011, acquiring a 'static' stereochemistry. In the supra-molecular network, there are inter-molecular C-H?F and C-H?N inter-actions with R(3) (3)(16), R(2) (2)(7), R(1) (2)(4), R(3) (3)(16) and C(3) (2)(7) motifs that lead to an infinite three-dimensional network.

Strong inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions consolidate the crystal packing. The F atoms of the anion are disordered over two positions in a 0.5233 (3):0.4767 (3) ratio.
