ABSTRACT: The centrosymmetric title complex, [Ni(C(13)H(19)N(2)O(2))(2)], is a mononuclear nickel(II) complex. The Ni(II) atom is coordinated by four N atoms and two O atoms of two deprotonated Schiff base ligands, forming a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination configuration, in which the tertiary N atoms occupy the axial positions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Ni(NCS)(2)(C(13)H(20)N(2)O(2))(2)], consists of two half-mol-ecules, both of which are completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry (Ni(2+) site symmetry = in both cases). Both metal ions are six-coordinated in distorted trans-NiO(2)N(4) geometries arising from two N,O-bidentate Schiff base ligands and two N-bonded thio-cyanate ions. The mol-ecular conformations are reinforced by two intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

One O and two N atoms constitute the base of the pyramid, and one O and one N atoms occupy the apical positions. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds between the lattice water mol-ecules and N/O atoms of the Schiff base ligands stabilize the conformation, whereas inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the two lattice water mol-ecules lead to a chain structure in [001].
