ABSTRACT: The Sn(IV) atom in the title compound, [Sn(C(9)H(4)Cl(2)NO)(2)Cl(2)], is chelated by the substituted quinolin-8-olate anions in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The N-donor atoms are in a cis alignment as are the Cl atoms; the O atoms are trans to each other.

The axial sites are occupied by an N atom of a quinolinate ligand and the C atom of the benzyl ligand. The axial Sn-N bond is slightly shorter than the equatorial Sn-N bond.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Sn(CH(3))(C(6)H(5))(C(10)H(8)NO)Cl], consists of two independent mol-ecules, both of which have the N,O-chelated Sn(IV) atom in a cis-C(2)SnNOCl trigonal-bipyramidal geometry [C-Sn-C = 124.82?(8) and 137.69?(8)°]. The Cl atom of the mol-ecule with the smaller C-Sn-C angle inter-acts weakly with the Sn(IV) atom of the mol-ecule with the wider C-Sn-C angle at an Sn?Cl distance of 3.595?(1)?Å. Weak inter-molecular C-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Hf(C(11)H(10)NO)(4)]·2C(3)H(7)NO, the Hf(IV) atom is coordinated by four N,O-donating bidentate 5,7-dimethyl-8-quinolino-late (Ox(-)) ligands arranged to give a distorted square-anti-prismatic coordination polyhedron. The average Hf-O and Hf-N distances are 2.098 and 2.298?Å, respectively, and the average O-Hf-N bite angle is 70.2°. The crystal packing is controlled by ?-? inter-actions between Ox(-) ligands of neighbouring mol-ecules, giving rise to a three-dimensional supra-molecular grid network. The inter-planar distances vary from 3.441?(1) to 3.509?(1)?Å, while the centroid-centroid distances vary from 3.688?(2) to 3.759?(12)?Å. A non-classical C-H?O hydrogen bond is observed between the complex and one of the solvate mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title compound, [Zr(C(11)H(10)NO)(4)]·2C(3)H(7)NO, the Zr(IV) ion is coordinated by four bidentate 5,7-dimethylquinolin-8-olate ligands in a slightly distorted square-anti-prismatic coordination environment. The asymmetric unit also contains two N,N'-dimethyl-formamide (DMF) solvent mol-ecules. In the crystal, a weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bond links the complex mol-ecule to a solvent mol-ecule and weak π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.671 (3) Å] also occur. One of the DMF solvent mol-ecules was refined as disordered over three sets of sites, with refined occupancies in the ratio of 0.391 (9):0.342 (10):0.267 (7).

The quinolin-8-olate anion chelates to the Sn atom; its O atom also binds to the inversion-related Sn atom, forming the dinuclear compound. In the crystal structure, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding links the mol-ecules, forming supra-molecular chains running along [100].
