ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(10)H(16)N(2)O(2)S(2), was prepared by a reaction of 4-tert-butyl-benzene, morpholine and sulfur. In the crystal structure, both morpholine rings display the typical chair conformation. Weak C-H?O hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure.

Project description:The seven-membered fused-ring in the title compound, C(12)H(12)N(2)S(2), adopts a boat conformation (with the two phenyl-ene C atoms representing the stern and the methine C atom the prow). This methine C atom and the tertiary N atom also belong to a five-membered ring, which has an envelope conformation. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked about a center of inversion by pairs of N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds.

A Valence Bond Description of Dizwitterionic Dithiolene Character in an Oxomolybdenum-bis(dithione).

Project description:Metallo-dithiolene non-innocence is explored in an oxomolybdenum-bis(dithione) complex, [Mo4+O(i-Pr2Pipdt)2Cl][PF6] (where i-Pr2Pipdt is N,N'-piperazine-2,3-dithione), that possesses a piperazine ring as an integral part of the dithiolene ligand. The title complex displays unusual spectroscopic features for a formally reduced Mo(IV) dithiolene complex, namely a low energy metal-to-ligand charge transfer band with appreciable intensity and C-C and C-S stretching frequencies that are markedly different from those of oxomolydenum complexes coordinated to dianionic dithiolene ligands. The electronic structure of the ligand has been described in valence bond terms as a resonance hybrid of dithione and dizwitterionic dithiolene contributing structures.

One-pot synthesis of 1,3,5-triazine-2,4-dithione derivatives via three-component reactions.

Project description:A catalyst-free one-pot synthetic methodology was developed for the preparation of 1,3,5-triazine-2,4-dithione derivatives through three-component reactions of arylaldehydes, thiourea, and orthoformates. The procedure tolerated a diverse range of arylaldehydes and orthoformates and provided a rapid entry to a variety of 4-aryl-6-(alkylthio)-3,4-dihydro-1,3,5-triazine-2(1H)-thiones (29 examples). The synthetic strategy relies on the dual role of thiourea in the cyclization with the aldehydes and the alkylation via an intermediate imidate formation. The structures of 1,3,5-triazine-2,4-dithione derivatives were characterized by spectroscopic techniques as well as by single crystal X-ray diffraction.

In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked via weak C-H?S inter-actions, forming infinite chains along the b-axis direction.

In the other mol-ecule, the phenyl rings form a dihedral angle of 58.79?(8)° with a ring centroid-centroid distance of 4.435?(2)?Å. An intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond occurs in each independent mol-ecule. The crystal packing is stabilized by and inter-molecular N-H?O and N-H?S hydrogen bonds and C-H?S inter-actions.

Project description:We provide a seminal example of the utility of the 1,2-azaborine motif as a 4C+1N+1B synthon in organic synthesis. Specifically, conditions for the practically scalable photoisomerization of 1,2-azaborine in a flow reactor are reported that furnish aminoborylated cyclobutane derivatives. The C-B bonds could also be functionalized to furnish a diverse set of highly substituted cyclobutanes.

Project description:A cyclic, bidentate hydroxamic acid binding unit based on an isoquinoline scaffold has been utilized for the synthesis of a hexadentate tripodal ligand based on the TREN backbone. This prototype for a new class of multidentate chelators forms mononuclear iron(III) complexes and one-dimensional coordination polymers with lanthanide(III) cations. The latter has been determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis of the cerium species. The solid-state structure in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c (C(36)H(34)CeN(7)O(11), a = 12.341(2) A, b = 26.649(4) A, c = 10.621(2) A, alpha = gamma = 90 degrees, beta = 96.753(3) degrees, V = 3468.6(9) A3, Z = 4) exhibits a trigonal-dodecahedral environment around the cerium cation. The proof of concept for the versatility of the new scaffold has been shown by the modification of the crucial precursor 3-carboxyisocoumarin through electrophilic aromatic substitutions to yield the corresponding chlorosulfonated and nitrated analogues.
