Bis(2-methoxy-phenolato-?O,O')copper(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cu(C(7)H(7)O(2))(2)], the asymmetric unit contains one and a half molecules with the central Cu(II) atoms situated on a general position and on a centre of inversion, respectively. Both Cu(II) atoms show a similar slightly distorted square-planar coordination, resulting from four O atoms of two 2-methoxyphenolate anions.

One of the perchlorate anions is disordered over two sites with occupancies of 0.611?(15) and 0.389?(15). Intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed in the complex dication. In the crystal structure, the perchlorate anions are linked to complex dications by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The Ni(II) ion, lying on an inversion centre, is four-coordinated in a square-planar geometry by two phenolate O and two imine N atoms from two symmetry-related 2-imino-methyl-5-methoxy-phenolate ligands. Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(7)H(7)OS)(2)(C(3)H(9)P)(2)], was obtained as a product of the reaction of [NiMe(2)(PMe(3))(3)] with two molar equivalents of 4-methoxy-thio-phenol in diethyl ether. The compound is stable in the air for several hours, but rapidly decomposes at room temperature in solution. The Ni atom displays a square-planar coordination with two P-donor atoms lying in trans positions. The benzene rings of the thio-phenolate ligands are almost perpendicular to the square coordination plane, making dihedral angles of 80.43 (4) and 72.60 (4)°.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(12)H(9)N(2)O)(2)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)], contains two independent (2-formyl-phen-olato){2-[(pyridin-2-yl)imino-meth-yl]phenolato}copper(II) mol-ecules that form pseudocentrosymmetric dimers via inter-actions between the Cu and pyridyl N atoms of independent monomers. The square-planar geometry of the Cu atoms in the monomer thus becomes square-based pyramidal in the dimer. The crystal studied was an inversion twin, with unequal populations of 0.353?(17) and 0.647?(17).
