Chloridotetra-kis(pyridine-4-carb-alde-hyde-κN)copper(II) chloride.

ABSTRACT: In the mol-ecular structure of the title compound, [CuCl(C(6)H(5)NO)(4)]Cl, the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by four N atoms of four pyridine-4-carboxaldehyde ligands and one chloride anion in a slightly distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. There is also a non-coordinating Cl(-) anion in the crystal structure. The Cu(II) atom and both Cl atoms are situated on fourfold rotation axes. A weak C-H⋯Cl inter-action is also present.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(BF4)2(C5H5N)2], the Cu(II) ion is in an octa-hedral coordination environment and is surrounded by four pyridine and two tetra-fluoridoborate mol-ecules. The four pyridine mol-ecules are coordinated to the copper ion through their N atoms in the equatorial plane and display a right-handed screw arrangement around the Cu(II) ion. The remaining two trans positions in the octa-hedron are occupied by the BF4 (-) anions, each coordinating weakly through an F atom. The crystal packing shows a two-dimensional sheet structure parallel to the ab plane that is formed by C-H⋯F hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [CuCl(2)(C(5)H(6)N(2))(4)]·H(2)O, contains two crystallographically independent complex mol-ecules and two water mol-ecules. The Cu(II) ion in each mol-ecule is six-coordinated in an elongated octa-hedral geometry, with the equatorial plane defined by four pyridine N atoms of four amino-pyridine ligands and the axial positions occupied by two Cl atoms. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional framework by C-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯Cl, N-H⋯O, N-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds and C/N-H⋯π inter-actions involving the pyridine rings.

Project description:In the title compound, C10H5BrO3, a brominated 3-formyl-chromone derivative, the non-H atoms are essentially coplanar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0420?Å), with the largest deviation from its mean plane [0.109?(2)?Å] being found for the ring-bound carbonyl O atom. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through halogen bonds [Br?O = 3.191?(2)?Å, C-Br?O = 167.32?(10)° and C=O?Br = 168.4?(2)°] along [101]. Project description:The structure of the title compound, {[Cu(SO(4))(C(6)H(7)N)(4)]·4.393H(2)O}(n), consists of Cu(2+) ions surrounded in a square-planar fashion by 4-methyl-pyridine ligands, forming two crystallographically independent Cu{H(3)C(C(5)H(4)N)}(4) units that are both located on crystallographic inversion centers. The Cu(4-methyl-pyridine)(4) units are, in turn, connected with each other via bridging sulfate anions, leading to the formation of infinite [Cu{H(3)C(C(5)H(4)N)}(4)SO(4)](n) zigzag chains along [001]. The completed coordination spheres of the Cu(2+) ions are slightly distorted octa-hedral. The axial Cu-O bonds are elongated [average length = 2.42 (4) Å] compared to the equatorial Cu-N bonds [average length = 2.043 (2) Å]. The inter-stitial space between the chains is filled with uncoordinated water mol-ecules that consolidate the structure through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. One of the five crystallographically independent solvent water mol-ecules is partially occupied with an occupancy factor of 0.396 (4). Due to hydrogen bonding between symmetry-equivalent water mol-ecules across inversion centers, several of the water H atoms are disordered in 1:1 ratios over mutually exclusive positions. The crystal under investigation was found to be non-merohedrally twinned in a 0.789 (1):0.211 (1) ratio by a 180° rotation around the reciprocal b axis.

The geometry around the Cu(II) atom is square planar. Semicoordinate Cu⋯Br bonds [3.269 (1) Å] and nonclassical C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds connect the mol-ecules, forming chains running parallel to the a axis. These chains are further linked via additional C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network.

Together with the additional coordinating chloride anion, the coordination polyhedron of copper is best described as a distorted square-pyramid, the distortion parameter being 0.288. The two organic ligands are linked by an intramolecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond.
