Chloridotetra-kis(pyridine-4-carb-alde-hyde-κN)copper(II) chloride.

ABSTRACT: In the mol-ecular structure of the title compound, [CuCl(C(6)H(5)NO)(4)]Cl, the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by four N atoms of four pyridine-4-carboxaldehyde ligands and one chloride anion in a slightly distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. There is also a non-coordinating Cl(-) anion in the crystal structure. The Cu(II) atom and both Cl atoms are situated on fourfold rotation axes. A weak C-H⋯Cl inter-action is also present.

Project description:In the title compound, C10H5BrO3, a brominated 3-formyl-chromone derivative, the non-H atoms are essentially coplanar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0420?Å), with the largest deviation from its mean plane [0.109?(2)?Å] being found for the ring-bound carbonyl O atom. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through halogen bonds [Br?O = 3.191?(2)?Å, C-Br?O = 167.32?(10)° and C=O?Br = 168.4?(2)°] along [101]. Mol-ecules are assembled into layers parallel to (101) via ?-? stacking inter-actions along the b axis [shortest centroid-centroid distance between the pyran and benzene rings = 3.495?(2)?Å].

Project description:In the title Cu(II) complex, [Cu(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(C(6)H(5)NO(2))(H(2)O)]·H(2)O, the environment of the Cu(2+) ion is a distorted square pyramid with the axial site occupied by the O atom from the coordinated water mol-ecule and the square base formed by two O and two N atoms from the tridentate anion and the neutral monodentate pyridine-3-carboxylic acid ligand. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, as well as π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.945 (3) Å] contribute to the stabilization of this structure.

The dimethyl sulfoxide solvent mol-ecules and Cu(II) complex mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. In addition, C-H⋯O contacts and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.590 (1) Å] occur.

Project description:The Cu atom in the title compound, [CuBr(2)(C(7)H(6)N(2))(4)], is surrounded by four N-heterocycles that define an N(4) square-planar geometry. The coordination geometry is distorted towards an elongated octa-hedron owing to the presence of the two Br(-) anions, which are located at about 3 Å above and below the square plane. Project description:The structure of the title compound, {[Cu(SO(4))(C(6)H(7)N)(4)]·4.393H(2)O}(n), consists of Cu(2+) ions surrounded in a square-planar fashion by 4-methyl-pyridine ligands, forming two crystallographically independent Cu{H(3)C(C(5)H(4)N)}(4) units that are both located on crystallographic inversion centers. The Cu(4-methyl-pyridine)(4) units are, in turn, connected with each other via bridging sulfate anions, leading to the formation of infinite [Cu{H(3)C(C(5)H(4)N)}(4)SO(4)](n) zigzag chains along [001]. The completed coordination spheres of the Cu(2+) ions are slightly distorted octa-hedral. The axial Cu-O bonds are elongated [average length = 2.42 (4) Å] compared to the equatorial Cu-N bonds [average length = 2.043 (2) Å]. The inter-stitial space between the chains is filled with uncoordinated water mol-ecules that consolidate the structure through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. One of the five crystallographically independent solvent water mol-ecules is partially occupied with an occupancy factor of 0.396 (4). Due to hydrogen bonding between symmetry-equivalent water mol-ecules across inversion centers, several of the water H atoms are disordered in 1:1 ratios over mutually exclusive positions. The crystal under investigation was found to be non-merohedrally twinned in a 0.789 (1):0.211 (1) ratio by a 180° rotation around the reciprocal b axis.

Together with the additional coordinating chloride anion, the coordination polyhedron of copper is best described as a distorted square-pyramid, the distortion parameter being 0.288. The two organic ligands are linked by an intramolecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Co(NCS)(2)(C(6)H(4)N(2))(4)]·2C(4)H(8)O(2)}, the Co(II) cations are octa-hedrally coordinated by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions and four N-bonded 3-cyano-pyridine ligands. The asymmetric unit consists of one Co(II) cation, which is located on a special position with site symmetry 2/m, one thio-cyanate anion and one dioxane mol-ecule, located on a crystallographic mirror plane, as well as one 3-cyano-pyridine ligand in a general position. The crystal structure consists of discrete complexes of [Co(NCS)(2)(3-cyano-pyridine)(4)], as well as two non-coordinating 1,4-dioxane solvent mol-ecules which are disordered due to symmetry.

Project description:The title dinuclear complex, [Cu2(C6H11O2)4(C6H4N2)2], has a paddle-wheel structure. The two crystallographically independent Cu(II) atoms are each in a distorted square-pyramidal environment, in which four O atoms from the four bridging caproate ligands form the basal plane and the pyridine N atom of the 4-cyano-pyridine ligand occupies the apical position. The Cu⋯Cu distance is 2.6055 (9) Å. One of the alkyl chains of the caproate ligands is disordered over two sets of sites, with occupancies of 0.725 (5) and 0.275 (5). In the crystal, two pairs of C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds connect the mol-ecules into chains along [11-1] and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the chains into a three-dimensional network.
