ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(4)H(4)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(4)]C(4)H(4)O(4)·12H(2)O, C(10)H(8)N(2)), the centrosymmetic dinuclear cations, succinate anions and water mol-ecules are hydrogen bonded into layers parallel to (010). The Cu atom is square-pyramidally coordinated by one atom of the succinato ligand and four N atoms of two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands. The 12 water mol-ecules form a new type of water cluster.

The Cu atom displays a cis-CuN(2)O(2) square-planar geometry, although two long (> 2.43?Å) Cu?O contacts complete a distorted cis-CuN(2)O(4) octa-hedron. Extensive C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], was obtained by solvothermal synthesis. The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by one chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two carboxyl groups from different biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, leading to a distorted octahedral environment. Each carboxyl-ate group makes one short Cu-O bond [1.9608 (14) and 1.9701 (14) Å] and one longer Cu-O contact [2.4338 (17) and 2.5541 (17) Å] to each Cu(II) atom. The biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate ligands bridge between Cu(II) atoms, forming a dinuclear complex around a crystallographic inversion centre.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(C(8)H(7)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·H(2)O, is comprised of a Cu(II) ion, two 3-meth-oxy-benzoate ligands, a 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) ligand and one uncoordinated water mol-ecule. The Cu(II) ion and the water O atom lie on a twofold axis. The Cu(II) ion exhibits a six-coordinate distorted octa-hedral geometry, with two N atoms from the bipy ligand [Cu-N = 1.9996 (16) Å] and four O atoms from two 3-meth-oxy-benzoate ligands [Cu-O = 1.9551 (15) and 2.6016 (16) Å]. The mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.

The dinuclear copper complex is located on a crystallographic inversion centre. The Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a tetra-gonal-pyramidal geometry, with one O atom of a succinate dianion and three N atoms of a 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand occupying the basal plane, and a water O atom located at the apical site. In the crystal structure, O-H?O hydrogen bonding links the mol-ecules into a chain parallel to the a axis.

The asymmetric unit contains a discrete Keggin-type [SiW(12)O(40)](4-) anion (located on a twofold axis), one 4,4'-bipy (located on a twofold axis), two (4,4'-bipyH(2))(2+) cations and six uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The polyoxoanion is constructed from a central SiO(4) tetra-hedron which shares its O atoms with four trinuclear W(3)O(13) groups, each of which is made up of three edge-sharing WO(6) octa-hedra. The water mol-ecules and [SiW(12)O(40)](4-) anions are linked through hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(4)H(2)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·7.34H(2)O, was obtained by crystallization from an aqueous ethano-lic reaction mixture containing nickel(II) acetate, maleic acid, bipyridine, sodium hydroxide and ammonia. The asymmetric unit contains one independent complex mol-ecule and 7.34 water mol-ecules occupying eight crystallographically independent positions. Two of these water molecules are disordered. The nickel(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by two O atoms from one carboxyl-ate group of the maleato ligand and by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands. The water mol-ecules, along with the O atoms of the uncoordinated carboxyl-ate group, form an extended hydro-philic three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded system with large cavities in which the hydro-phobic bipy ligands are located. One H atom of the maleate ligand is involved in a weak hydrogen bond of the C-H⋯O type. Stacking inter-actions between the pyridyl rings of the bipy ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.549 (15) Å] lead to the formation of pairs of complex mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(NO(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), the five-coordinated Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal CuN(4)O environment; the O atom is in the axial position whereas the N atoms from two bipyridine (bipy) ligands are in the equatorial plane. In the crystal, mol-ecules are assembled by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and π-π inter-actions between bipy groups [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7686 (16) and 3.7002 (16) Å] into a three-dimensional network. The nitrite anion is equally disordered over two sets of sites.

Project description:The central CuN(2)O(4) motif of the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], exhibits a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral geometry around the metal atom, showing a considerably long Cu-O bond distance of 2.5058 (12) Å towards the second perchlorate group, giving a (4 + 1+1)-type coordination mode. In the crystal, the components are linked via inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to (001). Additional stabilization within these layers is provided by π-π [centroid-centroid distances of 3.7848 (9)-4.4231 (9) Å] stacking inter-actions.
