ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Co(C(7)F(7))Cl(2)(C(3)H(9)P)(2)], the Co(III) atom displays a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry, with the two Cl ligands and the C atom of the perfluoro-tolyl ligand in the equatorial plane and the two phosphine ligands occupying axial positions. The mol-ecule has an approximate C(2v) symmetry. The trifluoro-methyl group is disordered over two positions, with nearly equal occupancies.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title salt, C(44)H(38)P(2) (2+)2BF(4) (-), consists of discrete dications inter-laced with the BF(4) (-) counter-ions. In each cation, both phospho-nium groups lie on the same side of the plane of the central benzene ring. The tetra-fluoro-borate anions are involved in intensive thermal motion, thus some B-F bond lengths [range 1.329 (6) to 1.391 (6) Å] deviate significantly from their standard values.

Project description:The title compound, [Fe(C44H28N4)(C6HF4O)], is a porphyrin complex with iron(III) in fivefold coordination with a tetra-fluoro-phenolate group as the axial ligand. The Fe atom and the phenolate ligand are disordered across the porphyrin ring with the two phenolates appearing to be roughly related by a center of symmetry. The occupancies of the two phenolate groups refined to 0.788?(3) for the major component and 0.212?(3) for the minor component. The structure shows extraordinary Fe displacements of 0.488?(4) (major) and 0.673?(4)?Å (minor) from the 24-atom mean plane of the porphyrin. The Fe-Np distances range from 2.063?(4) to 2.187?(6)?Å and the Fe-O distances are 1.903?(5)?Å for major component and 1.87?(2)?Å for minor component. The four phenyl groups attached to the porphyrin ring form dihedral angles of 63.4?(4), 49.6?(4), 62.4?(4), and 63.3?(4)° (in increasing numerical order) with the three nearest C atoms of the porphyrin ring. The major and minor component phenolate groups form dihedral angles of 24.9?(4)° and 24.8?(4)°, respectively, with the four porphyrin N atoms. The Fe?Fe distance between the two iron(III) atoms of adjacent porphyrin mol-ecules is 6.677?(3)?Å. No close inter-molecular inter-action was observed. The crystal studied was twinned by inversion, with a major-minor component ratio of 0.53?(3):0.47?(3).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C17H17F6N2O(+)·C10H8F3O3 (-), comprises two piperidin-1-ium cations and two carboxyl-ate anions. The cations, each having an l-shaped conformation owing to the near orthogonal relationship between the quinolinyl and piperidin-1-ium residues, are pseudo-enanti-omeric. The anions have the same absolute configuration but differ in the relative orientations of the carboxyl-ate, meth-oxy and benzene groups. Arguably, the most prominent difference between the anions occurs about the Cq-Om bond as seen in the Cc-Cq-Om-Cm torsion angles of -176.1 (3) and -67.1 (4)°, respectively (q = quaternary, m = meth-oxy and c = carboxyl-ate). The presence of Oh-H⋯Oc and Np-H⋯Oc hydrogen bonds leads to the formation of a supra-molecular chain along the a axis (h = hy-droxy and p = piperidin-1-ium); weak intra-molecular Np-H⋯Oh hydrogen bonds are also noted. Chains are connected into a three-dimensional architecture by C-H⋯F inter-actions. Based on a literature survey, related mol-ecules/cations adopt a uniform conformation in the solid state based on the letter L.

In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into ribbons propagating along the a-axis direction.
