Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(9)H(8)NO(3))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)]NO(3)·H(2)O, the Co(II) atom is six-coordinated by a carboxylate O atom of the hippurate (Hc) anion, a water O atom and four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The uncoordinated O atom of the hippuric acid anion is involved in an intra-molecular hydrogen bond to the coordinated water mol-ecule. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the Hc anions, the coordinated water mol-ecule, the nitrate anion and the uncoordinated water mol-ecule.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](2)[Co(H(2)O)(6)](C(11)H(7)O(8))(2)·4H(2)O, was obtanied by the reaction of cobalt acetate with 3,5-bis-(carb-oxy-meth-oxy)benzoic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline. The asymmetric unit contains one tetra-aqua-(1,10-phenanthroline)cobalt(II) cation, one half of a hexa-aqua-cobalt(II) cation that is completed by inversion symmetry, one 3,5-bis-(carboxyl-atometh-oxy)benzoate trianion and two lattice water mol-ecules. The two Co(II) atoms each show a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination (CoO(6) and CoO(4)N(2)). The cations, anions and lattice water mol-ecules are linked by an intricate network of O-H?O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [Co(NCS)(2)(C(16)H(16)N(2)O(2))], the Co(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from one 2,9-dieth-oxy-1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two N atoms from two different thio-cyanate ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral environment. The Co-N bonds involving the thio-cyanate ligands are significantly shorter than the other two Co-N bonds. The atoms of one of the eth-oxy groups are essentially coplanar with the phenanthroline ring [N=C-O-C = 178.8 (4)°], while the other eth-oxy group is slightly twisted from the phenanthroline ring plane [N=C-O-C = 167.2 (4)°]. Project description:In the title compound, [Co(SO(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·C(4)H(10)O(2), the Co(2+) ion has a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment composed of four N atoms from two chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two O atoms from an O,O'-bidentate sulfate anion. The dihedral angle between the two chelating N(2)C(2) groups is 83.48?(1)°. The Co(2+) ion, the S atom and the mid-point of the central C-C bond of the butane-2,3-diol solvent mol-ecule are situated on twofold rotation axes. The mol-ecules of the complex and the solvent mol-ecules are held together by pairs of symmetry-related O-H?O hydrogen bonds with the uncoordinated O atoms of the sulfate ions as acceptors. The solvent mol-ecule is disordered over two sets of sites with site occupancies of 0.40 and 0.60.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(SO(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·C(3)H(8)O(2), was obtained unexpectedly as a by-product during an attempt to synthesize a mixed-ligand complex of Co(II) with 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and melamine via a solvothermal reaction. The Co(II) metal ions are in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment formed by four N atoms from two chelating phen ligands and two O atoms from a bidentate sulfate ligand. The two chelating N(2)C(2) groups are almost perpendicular to each other [dihedral angle = 80.06?(8)°]. A twofold rotation axis passes through the Co and S atoms, and also through the central C atom of the propane-1,3-diol solvent mol-ecule. Inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds help to stabilize the structure.
