ABSTRACT: In the mononuclear salen-type complex, [Er(NO(3))(3)(C(18)H(20)N(2)O(4))], the Er(III) ion is ten-coordinated in a distorted hexa-deca-hedral geometry by six O atoms of three nitrate anions and four O atoms of the salen-like ligand. Inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds occur. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C(2)H(10)N(2) (2+)·2C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7) (-)·2H(2)O, crystallizes with a complete picrate anion and half an ethyl-enediammonium dication on a mirror plane, and two half-water mol-ecules (both on a mirror plane) in the asymmetric unit. The N atoms from separate half ethyl-enediammonium dications are in near proximity to a phenolate O atom and two o-NO(2) groups from the picrate anion, which, along with the water mol-ecule form N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and weak intermolecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds that create cyclic patterns with graph-set descriptors R(2) (4)(8), R(4) (4)(12), and R(4) (4)(16). The crystal packing is strongly influenced by these inter-molecular inter-actions between symmetry-related water mol-ecules, the half ethyl-enediammonium dication and the picrate anion, forming a three-dimensional supermolecular structure.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, C(2)H(10)N(2) (2+)·C(8)H(2)Cl(2)O(4) (2-), the dications and dianions form hydrogen-bonded ribbon substructures which enclose conjoint cyclic R(2) (1)(7), R(1) (2)(7) and R(4) (2)(8) associations and extend down the c-axis direction. These ribbons inter-associate down b, giving a two-dimensional sheet structure. In the dianions, one of the carboxyl-ate groups is essentially coplanar with the benzene ring, while the other is normal to it [C-C-C-O torsion angles = 177.67?(12) and 81.94?(17)°, respectively].

A nitrate anion is coordinated to the Ag atom. There is a centre of symmetry at the mid-point of the ethane C-C bond and a twofold rotation axis passes through the Ag, N and terminal O atoms. The coordination environment of the La(III) ion is formed by eleven O atoms. Three bidentate nitrate anions coordinate to the La(III) ion, while two HL ligands chelate the metal center with O atoms from the phenolate and meth-oxy groups. The HL ligands are zwitterionic, with protonated imine N atoms. The coordination sphere is completed by one methanol mol-ecule. The protonated imine N atoms are involved in intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds with the phen-oxy groups and nitrate ligands. One O atom of one nitrate group is disordered over two sites of equal occupancy.

An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond occurs in the benzohydrazidate ligand. Weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal.
