ABSTRACT: In the title coordination complex, [Zn(C(22)H(12)O(6))(H(2)O)(2)](n) or [Zn(H(2)nba)(H(2)O)(2)](n) (H(2)nba is 2,2'-dihydr-oxy-1,1'-bi-naph-thyl-3,3'-dicarboxyl-ate), the Zn(II) atom is coordinated by three H(2)nba ligands and two water molecules, resulting in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the crystal structure, adjacent Zn(II) atoms are linked by two H(2)nba ligands, forming one-dimensional ribbons along the c axis. These ribbons are further assembled into layers parallel to the bc plane via O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Zn(C(10)H(6)NO(2))(2)(H(2)O)](n), consists of one quinoline-4-carboxyl-ate anion, half of a Zn(2+) cation and half of a coordinated water mol-ecule. The cation and the water O atom have crystallographically imposed inversion and twofold rotation symmetry, respectively. The metal centre displays an elongated ZnO(6) octa-hedral coordination geometry provided by the O atoms of four anions at the equatorial plane and two axial water mol-ecules. Each anion and water mol-ecule act as bridges between Zn(II) cations, forming a polymeric chain parallel to [001]. The chains are further linked into a three-dimensional framework through O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Ni(2)(C(16)H(6)O(8))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(6)]·6H(2)O, contains one Ni(II) atom, one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, three coordinated water mol-ecules, one-half of a fully deprotonated biphenyl-3,3',4,4'-tetra-carboxyl-ate anion and three lattice water mol-ecules. The Ni(II) atom displays a distorted NiN(2)O(4) octa-hedral coordination formed by one carboxyl-ate O atom, three water O atoms and two N atoms of the chelating ligand. The complete biphenyl-3,3',4,4'-tetra-carboxyl-ate ligand displays inversion symmetry and links two symmetry-related Ni(II) atoms into a binuclear complex. Neighbouring complex mol-ecules are linked through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional structure. Additional O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the lattice water mol-ecules help to consolidate the crystal packing.

The 2,2'-dpa ligand acts as a bridge between neighbouring Ni(II) atoms, forming one-dimensional coordination polymers along [100]. Project description:The title compound [Cu(2)(C(6)H(3)BrNO(2))(4)](n), forms sheets in the bc plane. The structure features the dinuclear paddle-wheel cage motif common to copper(II) carboxyl-ates. The polymeric structure is achieved through bridging between binuclear units by the pyridyl donors of two of the four carboxyl-ates of the cage. Each cage engages in axial bonding at each copper atom to a pyridyl nitro-gen donor and extends two 5-bromo-pyridine-3-carboxyl-ate groups to bridge to adjacent binuclear sites in the bc plane. Each cage is linked to four adjacent cages in the plane. The intra-dimer Cu⋯Cu distance is 2.6465 (5) Å. The remaining 5-bromo-pyridine-3-carboxyl-ate groups project into the inter-lamellar domain and inter-digitate in pairs from each neighboring layer.

The Cu(2+) ion is six-coordinated by three water O atoms, and two N atoms and one O atom of the 2,2'-bipyridine-3,3'-dicarboxyl-ate bridging ligand in a sligthly distorted octa-hedral environment. The 2,2-bipyridine-3,3'-dicarboxyl-ate bridges link the Cu(2+) ions into chains along the b-axis direction. These chains are further linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the water solvent mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional framework.
