ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Ba(C(14)H(20)O(5))(2)][Co(NCS)(4)], the Ba(II) and Co(II) ions are situated on twofold rotational axes, so asymmetric unit contains half each of the complex cations and anions. The Co(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms [Co-N 1.83?(2), 1.95?(3)?Å] in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The Ba(II) ion is coordinated by ten O atoms [Ba-O 2.766?(19)-2.859?(19)?Å] from two benzo-15-crown-5 ligands in a sandwich-like configuration.

The complex mol-ecules form a two-dimensional network via weak O-H?S inter-actions between adjacent cations and anions.

Project description:The title compound, [Sr(C(14)H(20)O(5))(2)](I(3))(2), obtained by slow evaporation of an ethanol/dichloro-methane solution (1:1) of SrCl(2), benzo-15-crown-5 and I(2), is built of sandwich-like [Sr(benzo-15-crown-5)(2)](2+) cations and isolated linear I(3) (-) anions which are arranged in alternating layers parallel to (010). The triiodide anions are located in general positions, whereas the cations are located on centres of inversion.

There are only minor geometric differences between them. Each cobalt(II) ion is coordinated by the N atoms of four NCS anions, showing the magnitude of the magnetic moment expected from the NCS(-) crystal field strength.

Project description:The title compound, [Ru(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(C(13)H(7)N(3)S)](PF(6))(2)·CH(3)CN, was synthesized by the reaction of thio-phosgene and bis-(2,2'-bipyridine)(1,10-phenanthrolin-5-amine)ruthenium(II) bis-(hexa-fluoridophosphate). The Ru(II) atom adopts a slightly distorted octa-hedral RuN(6) coordinaton formed by four N atoms of two bipyridine ligands and by two N atoms of the 1,10-phenantroline ligand. The isothio-cyanate group is almost linear, with an N-C-S angle of 174.4?(6)°. Two of the three hexa-fluoridophosphate counter-anions are located on inversion centres.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, (C(16)H(20)N(3)S)(2)[Co(NCS)(4)], comprises one monovalent isothio-pendylium cation and one-half of a divalent thio-cyanatocobaltate(II) anion (2 symmetry). The central thia-zine ring of the cation is slightly twisted in a boat-like fashion, with r.m.s. deviations from the mean plane of 0.272?(1) and 0.2852?(8)?Å for the N and S atoms. The mol-ecular structure of the cation is stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bond. Within the complex anion, the Co(II) atom is tetra-hedrally surrounded by four N atoms of the thio-cyanate ligands. ?-? stacking, with a distance of 3.7615?(10)?Å between the centroids of benzene and pyridine rings, helps to consolidate the packing.

The Ni(II) atom is coordinated by the N atoms of two trans-arranged NCS(-) anions and four 1-[4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phen-yl]ethan-one ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal, C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds link the complex mol-ecules into chains parallel to the b axis. The chains are further connected by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to the bc plane.
