Bis[aqua-(2,3-naphtho-15-crown-5)sodium] tetra-kis(thio-cyanato-?N)cobaltate(II).

ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Na(C(18)H(22)O(5))(H(2)O)](2)[Co(NCS)(4)], consists of two aqua-(2,3-naphtho-15-crown-5)sodium complex cations and one [Co(NCS)(4)](2-) complex anion, which has crystallographic symmetry. In the anion, the Co(II) centre is coordinated by the N atoms of four NCS(-) ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. In the complex cations, the Na(I) centre is coordinated by five O atoms of the 2,3-naphtho-15-crown-5 ligand and one water O atom. The complex mol-ecules form a two-dimensional network via weak O-H?S inter-actions between adjacent cations and anions.

Project description:The title complex, [Co(C21H16N4)2][Co(NCS)4]·CH3OH, consists of one [Co{C(py)4}2](2+) complex cation [C(py)4 = tetra-kis-(pyridin-2-yl)methane], one [Co(NCS)4](2-) complex anion and a methanol solvent mol-ecule. In the cation, the Co(II) atom is coordinated by six N atoms of two C(py)4 ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the anion, the Co(II) atom is coordinated by the N atoms of four NCS(-) ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The methanol mol-ecule is disordered and was modelled over three orientations (occupancies 0.8:0.1:0.1). There are two weak hydrogen-bond-like inter-actions between the methanol solvent mol-ecule and NCS(-) ligands of the anion [O⋯S = 3.283 (3) and 3.170 (2) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, (C5H6N)[Fe(NCS)4(C5H5N)2], the Fe(III) ion is coordinated by four thio-cyanate N atoms and two pyridine N atoms in a trans arrangement, forming an FeN6 polyhedron with a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. Charge balance is achieved by one pyridinium cation bound to the complex anion via N-H⋯S hydrogen bonding. The asymmetric unit consists of one Fe(III) cation, four thio-cyanate anions, two coordinated pyridine mol-ecules and one pyridinium cation. The structure exhibits π-π inter-actions between pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7267 (2), 3.7811 (2) and 3.8924 (2) Å]. The N atom and a neighboring C atom of the pyridinium cation are statistically disordered with an occupancy ratio of 0.58 (2):0.42 (2).

Project description:The reaction of nickel(II) thio-cyanate with an excess of pyridazine leads to single crystals of the title compound, [Ni(NCS)(2)(C(4)H(4)N(2))(4)]·2C(4)H(4)N(2). The Ni(II) cations are coordinated by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions (trans) and four pyridazine ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The discrete complexes are arranged into layers parallel to the ab plane which are separated by additional non-coordinated pyridazine ligands.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(13)H(10)N)(2)[Pt(NCS)(4)], contains a protonated acridine molecule and one half of a [Pt(NCS)(4)](2-) anion. In the complex anion, the Pt(II) ion is located on an inversion centre and is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar environment by four S atoms from four thio-cyanate ligands. The compound displays numerous inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between six-membered rings, with a shortest centroid-centroid distance of 3.682?(3)?Å. The component ions inter-act by means of inter-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds.
