Project description:In the crystal of the title polymeric compound, [CdBr2(C12H12N2)] n , the Cd(II) cation is located on a twofold rotation axis and is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry formed by two N atoms from the 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand and by four bridging Br(-) anions. The bridging function of the Br(-) anions leads to a polymeric chain running along the c axis. Weak C-H?? inter-actions observed between adjacent chains are effective in the stabilization of the three-dimensional packing.

Project description:The reaction of CdCl(2), 18-crown-6 and KI in water yields the title coordination polymer, [{K(C(12)H(24)O(6))}(2)Cd(2)I(6)](n). The potassium ion lies approximately in the plane of the crown ether, coordinated by all six crown ether O atoms and also by an iodide anion bound to a cadmium atom. A C atom of the crown ether is disordered over two positions with site occupancies of 0.77?(2) and 0.23?(2). Two K(18-crown-6)(+) units are linked by inversion symmetry, forming a [bis-(?(2)-18-crown-6)dipottasium] system with approximately square-planar K(2)O(2) units. Inversion symmetry also generates the Cd(2)I(6) fragment and the polymeric system is extended along the c axis by the formation of K-I-Cd bridges.

The organic cation has an inversion center at the mid-point of the ethane C-C bond. In the anion, the Pb(II) atom is coordinated by six I atoms in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The I atoms bridge the Pb(II) atoms into a polymeric chain running along [001]. These inorganic chains are separated by the isolated organic cations.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(2)Br(3)(C(11)H(9)N(2)O(2))](n), was one of three isolated by slow evaporation of an acetonitrile reaction mixture of CuBr(2) with di-2-pyridyl ketone (1:1 molar ratio). The title complex contains a 2:1 metal-to-ligand ratio of copper(II) with the hydrated form of the ligand, di-2-pyridylmethane-diol. The two copper centers are bridged by a bromide ion and the alk-oxy O atom, and the Cu-Cu distance is 2.9801?(5)?Å. The dimeric units are further linked by bromide ions, leading to a two-dimensional extended bridged structure. O-H?O hydrogen bonds are present in the crystal structure.

One is chelated by a pyridine N atom and an S-donor from one di-2-pyridyl disulfide ligand and coordinated by two I atoms, while the second Cu(I) atom is coordinated by a pyridine-N and three I atoms. Iodine bridges between the Cu(I) atoms form a tetra-nuclear structure.

The polymeric structure consists of two types of polymeric chains, each composed from repeated chiral rhomboids. The Cu(II) ions adopt a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry and are coordinated by four pyridine N atoms and two water O atoms. The coordinated water mol-ecules and hydrogen phthalate anions are located between the repeated rhomboidal chains, and form hydrogen bonds with the coordinated water mol-ecules.
