ABSTRACT: The reaction between benzyl-triethyl-ammonium chloride and dimethyl-tin dichloride yields the title salt, [(C(6)H(5)CH(2))(C(2)H(5))(3)N](2)[SnCl(6)]. The Sn(IV) atom, located on a center of inversion, exists in an octa-hedral coordination environment. The cation links with the anion via weak C-H?Cl hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C5H8N2)2[SnCl6]Cl2, consists of one 3-aza-niumylpyridin-1-ium dication and one chloride ion in a general position and a hexa-chloridostannate(IV) dianion lying about a centre of inversion. The [SnCl6](2-) anion exhibits almost perfect octa-hedral geometry. The 3-aza-niumylpyridin-1-ium and chloride ions are connected via medium-strong charge-supported N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming undulating layers in the (110) plane. The [SnCl6](2-) ions are located between these layers and occupy cavities formed by two facing layer puckers.

Project description:The title compound, (C(6)H(16)N)(2)[SnCl(6)], crystallizes with one diisopropyl-ammonium cation lying on a general position and the hexa-chloridostannate(IV) anion about a centre of inversion. The [SnCl(6)](2-) anion undergoes a slight distortion from octa-hedral symmetry as the result of the formation of four unforked charge-supported N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. The hydrogen bonds between the cations and anions form layers perpendicular to [101]. These layers are built by 24-membered rings which can be classified with an R(8) (8)(24) graph-set descriptor. According to this hydrogen-bonding motif, the title compound is isostructural with (C(6)H(16)N)(2)[IrCl(6)].

Project description:A binary mixture of benzyl-amine and hexa-noic acid has been reacted to form the title salt, C(7)H(10)N(+)·C(6)H(11)O(2) (-). This crystal has a 1:1 stoichiometry of acid- and amine-derived species which contrasts with other related species which can have a number of other integer ratios of acid and amine components. The diffraction data indicate complete transfer of a proton from the acid to the amine to give the salt, comprising a cation and anion combination, with the formation of three hydrogen bonds around each ammonium group. This contrasts with other related species.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, (C(6)H(16)N)(2)[CoCl(4)], is comprised of a tetrahedral [CoCl(4)](2-) anion and two independent triethyl-ammonium cations. The latter are featureless while the [CoCl(4)](2-) anion exhibits typical Co-Cl bond lengths [2.2428?(15)-2.2847?(16)?Å] and a Cl-Co-Cl angular range of 107.58?(6)-112.73?(7)°. In the crystal, N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds between the two crystallographically independent cations and the [CoCl(4)](2-) anion generate discrete ion triplets. The two Co-Cl bonds involved in these inter-actions are slightly longer than the remaining two.

The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, while inter-molecular N-H⋯O, N-H⋯N and weak C-H⋯O inter-actions help to stabilize the crystal structure.
